Pakistan cut petrol by Rs10.28 per litre to Rs253.17 per litre from January 1, 2026. High-speed diesel (HSD) fell by Rs8.57 per litre. These were rates for the first fortnight of the year, not current prices.
What were Pakistan’s petrol and diesel prices from January 1, 2026?

The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) published an announcement titled “Prices of Petroleum Products from 1st January, 2026”. Dawn reported the petrol rate and both reductions on January 1, 2026. Its accessible report gives the diesel cut but not the resulting HSD price, so the reduction alone is not enough to state a new diesel rate.
How much was petrol before the cut?
Adding the reported Rs10.28 reduction to the new Rs253.17 rate gives an implied previous petrol price of Rs263.45 per litre. That figure is calculated from Dawn’s reported numbers; it is not a separately quoted rate in the report.
Are these Pakistan’s current fuel prices?
No. The January 1 rates were period-specific. OGRA’s notified-price archive lists a January 16 notification and later revisions, showing that the New Year rates were superseded. On October 8, 2026, OGRA’s Price Publications portal displayed publications dated October 6 and October 3, but the accessible listing did not show their numerical rates. This article therefore does not give an October 8 price.

What to check before using a fuel price
- Match the price to the notification’s effective dates; a past fortnightly rate should not be treated as current.
- Check the fuel grade. The reported diesel reduction is for high-speed diesel, and its resulting price is not available in the accessible report.
- Use a dated official notification or price record when confirming a later rate. OGRA’s archive lists notifications by date.
