Its appeal is the possibility of connecting those workflows; the trade-offs to assess are implementation effort, learning curve, workflow fit, and quote-based pricing. The tools in a particular customer’s setup depend on what is selected and included in its quote.
What is Paycom?
Paycom describes its platform as one software system and database spanning payroll, talent acquisition, time and labor management, talent management, and HR management. The exact tools available to a customer depend on its configuration. Paycom’s software overview presents the suite as a way to manage these functions in one environment, but buyers should still verify the integrations and data flows they need.
What features does Paycom offer?
Employee self-service
Paycom’s employee self-service tools let employees access and manage HR and payroll information on desktop or mobile. Depending on the customer’s setup, tasks can include onboarding, direct-deposit details, benefits enrollment, time-off requests, timekeeping, expense submission, and reviewing pay information. Paycom’s employee self-service page describes these capabilities. For employers, self-service may reduce routine HR requests when employees can readily complete the relevant tasks themselves.
Beti and payroll review
Paycom says its Beti workflow starts payroll each pay period using live employee information, alerts employees and managers to outstanding tasks, and helps employees identify and resolve paycheck issues before submission. Those are Paycom’s stated product capabilities, not a guarantee of error-free payroll or evidence of a measured reduction in errors. Ask for a demonstration using your own payroll corrections, approvals, and exception scenarios. Paycom’s employee self-service page describes Beti.

GONE time-off management
Paycom describes GONE as a time-off feature that automates decisions using rules configured by the employer. This may suit organizations with repeatable request policies. In a demo, test how your configuration would handle exceptions, staffing constraints, and approval requirements rather than assuming automation will cover every case. Paycom’s employee self-service page describes GONE.
How much does Paycom cost?
Paycom does not list a standard public price on its pricing page. It says pricing depends on workforce size and selected tools and invites organizations to request a customized quote. The page says a one-time implementation fee is included and describes ongoing support from a dedicated specialist as provided at no cost to clients. Those statements do not establish that every service, module, integration, or implementation task is included in every quote.

Request a written, itemized proposal. Confirm the employee-count assumptions, selected modules, one-time implementation fees, recurring charges, service scope, renewal terms, and any additional charges. When comparing providers, use the same employee count, pay schedule, modules, and implementation assumptions; otherwise, the totals may not be comparable.
What are Paycom’s pros and cons?
| Potential advantage | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Broad HR and payroll suite | Payroll and multiple HR functions sit within one software environment, which may help connect workflows. Validate required integrations and data flows for your organization. |
| Employee self-service | Employees can handle a range of HR and payroll tasks through desktop or mobile access. The practical value depends on whether the workflows fit and employees use them. |
| Employee paycheck review through Beti | Paycom says employees can help identify and resolve issues before payroll submission. Treat this as a described workflow, not a payroll-accuracy guarantee. |
| Favorable third-party rating snapshots | Capterra and G2 showed positive aggregate ratings in the dated snapshots below. Ratings are platform-specific and change over time. |
| Learning curve and workflow friction reported by some reviewers | Capterra excerpts mention initial complexity and extra time to learn features and reporting, as well as difficulty resuming document review. G2’s summary also identifies complexity for new users as a reported concern. These are reviewer themes, not universal outcomes. |
| Quote-only pricing and configuration-dependent fit | The public pricing page does not provide a standard price, and a broad suite may still leave gaps for a particular organization. Test essential workflows and obtain a detailed quote. |

The scores come from different platforms, dates, and review populations, so they should not be combined into a single rating or treated as directly comparable measures. Individual comments can help identify workflows to test, but they do not establish how every customer will fare.
Who should consider Paycom?
Paycom may be worth evaluating if your organization wants payroll and several HR functions in one software environment and expects employees to use self-service tools. Its fit is less clear from a feature list alone: the decision turns on your actual configuration, implementation scope, price, and how well the workflows match your policies.
