By September 2026, news reports said the catalogue had grown to 125 certifications. It is a certification-fee reimbursement initiative run by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), not a confirmed upfront-free training offer: the launch account said applicants paid for and completed a certification before requesting reimbursement. Check PITB’s current terms before paying, because deadlines, eligible costs and reimbursement limits are not established in the available official updates.
What the Punjab Global IT Certifications Program offers
The Punjab Government initiated the program, with PITB responsible for execution. At launch in September 2024, TechJuice reported an offer of more than 40 internationally accredited certifications and a target of at least 10,000 people. Those are launch-era figures, not evidence that 10,000 residents completed certifications.
The reported catalogue later expanded: The News International said on September 23, 2026, that the program offered 125 globally recognized certifications. That is a reported snapshot, not a live catalogue; check the official PITB certifications portal for the current choices and terms.
How reimbursement was described
According to TechJuice’s 2024 launch report, applicants selected a certification through the portal, paid its fee, completed the certification and then applied for a refund after receiving the certificate. This means “free” can be misleading: the described process required applicants to cover the cost first, and the report did not establish that every fee or claim would be reimbursed.
#1 Best Overall
PITB confirmed that reimbursements had occurred in an October 5, 2026 update, which said another batch of candidates was reimbursed at a program meet-up. That confirms reimbursements were made, but does not establish a current claim process or guarantee an individual applicant’s repayment. Check the applicable terms before making a purchase.
Eligibility and who may apply
The launch report specified Punjab domicile and a valid CNIC. It named Google, Microsoft, AWS, Cisco, IBM and Oracle as examples of certification providers, but these examples should not be treated as a current list of approved issuers or credentials.
Rank #2
In its October 2026 update, PITB described the initiative as open to citizens across Punjab regardless of professional background and qualifications. That statement does not resolve every eligibility condition; confirm the live portal’s requirements and whether they apply to your chosen certification before paying.
What the reported application figures show
The News International reported that, since the program began in September 2024, it had received over 21,700 applications. More than 12,000 candidates had been verified for eligibility, and payment verification had been completed for over 1,600 applicants, according to the report following a PITB review meeting on September 23, 2026.

These are reported program activity figures, not independently audited outcomes. They do not show how many people completed certifications, received reimbursement overall, or gained employment or higher earnings.
How to decide whether a certification is worth the upfront cost
Because the described process involves paying first, compare the credential and its costs against your goals before enrolling. Do not assume the program covers a fee until PITB’s current terms say so.

- Career fit: Match the credential to a specific role or skill gap rather than choosing by provider name alone.
- Requirements and format: Check prerequisites, exam format, language and access needs, and the time you can set aside to prepare.
- Total cost and reimbursement: Confirm that the exact certification and fee are eligible under current rules, including any limits or excluded costs.
- Credential upkeep: Review whether the credential expires or requires renewal, and what that may cost.
What to verify before paying
The launch report and PITB’s subsequent update do not establish the program’s current deadline, whether applications are open, required claim documents, eligible fee types, reimbursement cap, processing timeline or appeal process. The exact current catalogue also needs confirmation on the portal.
- Open the official PITB certifications portal and confirm that applications are currently being accepted.
- Check the live list for the exact certification and issuer you plan to pursue, along with any prerequisites.
- Read the current reimbursement terms for eligible costs, caps, deadlines, proof of payment, completion evidence and claim submission steps.
- Save the applicable terms and retain receipts and certification records before paying; if a key term is unclear, seek confirmation from PITB before committing money.
PITB’s official homepage listed the October 5, 2026 reimbursement update and the September 2026 program expansion among its recent updates.
