A provably fair Bitcoin casino gives you a way to check whether a recorded game result can be reproduced from a server seed, a client seed, a nonce and the game’s published algorithm. In a common design, the casino commits to a server seed by publishing its hash before play, then reveals the seed later. You can verify a bet only when you have the right inputs and the exact procedure for that game. That check does not establish that the casino is licensed, solvent, secure or fair in every other respect.
What “provably fair” means
Provably fair describes a method for checking game outcomes, not a general certification of a casino. A common design uses a commit–reveal process: before play, the casino publishes a cryptographic hash of a secret server seed. The hash acts as a commitment. After the relevant play or seed rotation, the casino reveals the seed; you can hash it and check that it matches the commitment shown earlier.
A client seed adds player-side input, while a nonce distinguishes successive rounds. The game’s algorithm combines the applicable values to produce an outcome. Once the server seed is disclosed, a player—or an independent verifier—can run that same algorithm and compare the result with the casino’s recorded bet history. The commitment is intended to prevent the casino from choosing a favourable server seed after seeing a wager.
Bitcoin is the casino’s payment currency in this context; that fact alone does not mean the game result is recorded or verified on the Bitcoin blockchain. The check described here depends on the casino’s published game specification and the revealed inputs.

How to verify a recorded bet
The exact controls and terminology vary by casino and game. Use the game’s own published instructions rather than assuming that a verifier for another site—or even another game on the same site—uses the same rules.
- Find the bet record. Open the casino’s bet history or game record and identify the specific round you want to check. Note its displayed result and any seed, client-seed or nonce information shown.
- Check the earlier commitment. Find the server-seed hash that was displayed before the wager. The relevant commitment must be the one associated with that round, not a hash from a later seed cycle.
- Obtain the revealed inputs. When the casino reveals the corresponding server seed, copy it exactly. Record the client seed and nonce for the round, along with any other inputs the game specification requires. A missing or mismatched value prevents a meaningful reproduction.
- Use the documented verifier. Follow the casino’s published algorithm or a genuinely independent implementation that documents the same procedure. The specification needs to explain the hash or HMAC construction, input formatting, nonce handling and how the resulting value maps to that game’s outcome.
- Compare both checks. First, hash the revealed server seed and compare it with the pre-wager commitment. Then run the outcome calculation with the exact round inputs and compare the computed result with the bet history. A successful result means those inputs reproduce that recorded outcome under that procedure.
- Keep a record of a mismatch. Save the bet identifier, the commitment shown before play, the revealed inputs, the published procedure and the displayed result. Ask the operator to explain the discrepancy; a mismatch is a reason to investigate, not by itself proof of why it occurred.
What the verification can—and cannot—show
A successful check supports a narrow conclusion: the recorded outcome is reproducible from the disclosed inputs under the stated algorithm, and the revealed server seed matches the earlier commitment if the hash check also succeeds. It does not independently establish that the casino used the documented implementation for every live wager.

Nor does a reproducible result prove that a game has fair payout terms. The game’s rules, payout mapping, house edge or advertised RTP require separate scrutiny. A seed check does not establish that the advertised RTP is accurate, that the random-number generation has suitable entropy, or that every game on the platform is covered by the same method.
Even an audit of game integrity does not answer whether the operator safeguards funds, processes withdrawals, holds the right licence, complies with applicable rules, protects accounts or offers responsible-play controls. These are separate questions. A provably fair label, a successful check of one bet, or an audit of selected games should not be treated as proof of those broader protections.

How to assess a casino’s provably fair claims
Use these questions to evaluate the evidence for a particular casino or game. A casino’s own explanation can help you understand its process, but independent reproduction of actual bet-history outcomes is stronger evidence than a demonstration using sample data.

ProvablyFair.org’s methodology describes a typical per-game audit as involving thousands of real-money bets and tens of millions of simulated rounds. That is the publisher’s account of its own typical process, not an industry-wide standard. The same publisher reported 53,475 live bets verified, 253 million simulated rounds and 151 game-integrity checks in 2026. Those are figures the publisher displays about its activity; they are not independent confirmation that any particular casino passed an audit.

UK regulation is a separate check
For Great Britain, the UK Gambling Commission says a business needs a licence to provide remote gambling facilities to consumers there, even if the business is based abroad. Its remote gambling and software technical standards apply to relevant licensees. These rules describe the UK system; they do not establish the legal status of a casino in another country or tell you which operators serve your jurisdiction.
- RTS 7: The Commission requires outcomes to be “acceptably random” and games to be implemented fairly and in accordance with published rules and payouts.
- RTS 3: Game rules and information about the likelihood of winning, house edge or RTP should be available to inform customers.
- RTS 14: Responsible-design requirements include not actively encouraging loss-chasing or stake increases, alongside timing rules for specified game categories.
These regulatory requirements address matters beyond a seed-reveal check, but they should not be generalized outside their scope or assumed to apply to a casino simply because it advertises provably fair games. Check the regulator’s current public records and rules for your location, and assess the operator’s status independently.
