Pearl Abyss did not deny the June 2025 rumors that it was exploring a sale of CCP Games. Its statement said no decision had been made and there was nothing to announce at that time. In 2026, the company disclosed a sale of all CCP ehf. shares held by its subsidiary and confirmed the transaction closed on May 6, with CCP’s current management identified as the buyer.

What Pearl Abyss said about the rumors in June 2025

On June 20, 2025, Insider Gaming reported that an unnamed Korean outlet had said Pearl Abyss contacted several companies to gauge interest in buying CCP Games. Insider Gaming said Pearl Abyss’s response stopped short of a complete denial.

The statement, as quoted by Insider Gaming, was: “While we regularly review various strategies to enhance our global competitiveness, no decisions have been made, and we have nothing to announce at this time.” That described the company’s position at the time; it did not rule out a later sale.

What changed in 2026

Sale disclosed April 30

On April 30, 2026, Pearl Abyss disclosed that its subsidiary Pearl Abyss Iceland would dispose of all 10,973,763 CCP ehf. shares it held. The filing stated consideration of KRW 177.132 billion, using the exchange rate specified in that filing. It described the terms as USD 100 million in cash plus rights to receive tokens valued at USD 20 million. The token rights were part of the stated consideration, not cash already received. The filing listed May 6, 2026, as the planned closing date. Pearl Abyss’s disposal filing

Transaction completed May 6

Pearl Abyss’s quarterly filing confirms that the transaction was completed on May 6, 2026, and treats CCP-related operations as discontinued operations. In its first-quarter 2026 earnings letter, the company identified the buyer as CCP’s current management and referred to the former CCP entity as Fenris Creations. The filings use CCP ehf. for the disposed entity; Fenris Creations is the name used in the later earnings materials. Pearl Abyss’s quarterly filing Pearl Abyss’s first-quarter 2026 earnings letter

Did Pearl Abyss sell CCP Games, and who owns it now?

Yes. The 2025 statement was a limited update about a possible transaction, not a permanent denial. Pearl Abyss’s 2026 filings show that it disposed of all the CCP ehf. shares covered by the transaction and completed the sale; its earnings letter says the buyer was CCP’s current management. The 2025 rumor report and the later confirmed sale are separate events, and the earlier report should not be treated as proof that a deal had already been agreed in June 2025.
