TechCrunch reported that Luther King Capital Management led the funding, but Onramp did not disclose how much was equity and how much was credit. The figure was not a $42 million all-equity round.
What Onramp Funds raised $42 million for
Onramp is an Austin-based company that provides working capital to e-commerce merchants. TechCrunch reported that the company planned to use credit to finance small businesses and the equity portion to support customer acquisition and hiring across engineering, product, sales, marketing, and client success. The report did not give a breakdown between the two forms of financing. TechCrunch’s May 31, 2022 report described the funding and the company’s plans at the time.
The financing addressed a cash-flow gap common to online sellers: they may need to pay for inventory and shipping before marketplace sales proceeds arrive. Founder and CEO Eric Youngstrom told TechCrunch, “People just didn’t have the money necessary to complete the order.” The article said Onramp used historical sales data to forecast working-capital needs. Its 2022 account of hundreds of customers and month-over-month revenue growth is historical reporting, not a current company performance update.
How Onramp Funds financing works today
Onramp’s current product page describes three structures for business financing. Repayment frequency and duration shown on that page apply to the company’s descriptions, not necessarily to every merchant’s offer.
#1 Best Overall
- Manage your payments and deposit transactions
- Check balances and generate reports to monitor your business finances
- Email and fax reports to your accountant
- Create and track quotes, invoices and more
- Connect to the app with secure web access
| Structure | Repayment behavior | Frequency and stated duration |
|---|---|---|
| Variable | Revenue-based payments that fluctuate with sales | Daily, weekly, or biweekly; one to twelve months |
| Fixed | Predictable fixed payments | Daily, weekly, or biweekly; one to twelve months |
| Rolling Cash Line | Revolving borrowing capacity described as growing with sales; customers can choose fixed or revenue-based repayment | Daily, weekly, or biweekly; one to twelve months |
Onramp says these structures use a single fee structure. The product page does not establish what terms a particular seller will be offered. See Onramp’s product page for its current descriptions.
Published fees and potential uses
Onramp’s official ecommerce-funding page, accessed in 2026, lists fees of 0.5% to 4% of sales and an estimated APR equivalent of 11.9% to 19.9%, depending on advance terms. These are company-published figures, not an independently verified comparison or a quote for an individual merchant. The page also says advances typically close out in 90 days; actual timing depends on the terms and repayment.

The same page describes financing for inventory and says repayment is synchronized with sales. Onramp’s homepage also names shipping and logistics, marketing, and other business-growth needs as possible uses. The company says it evaluates sales history, cash-flow needs, and debt positions, and describes payments as synced with sales deposits. These descriptions do not guarantee that every use or repayment arrangement will be available to every applicant.
Who may qualify—and why to check the exact requirements
Onramp’s official pages show different eligibility details, so there is no single combined checklist that can be stated confidently from those pages alone. The ecommerce-funding page, accessed in 2026, says applicants must be U.S.-based merchants with at least $10,000 in sales over the past 30 days. It lists Shopify, BigCommerce, Amazon, Walmart, WooCommerce, Squarespace, and SHOPLINE.

Its platform list includes Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Walmart, SHOPLINE, and Stripe. Because the pages differ in both requirements and platform coverage, confirm current qualification rules and supported platforms with Onramp before applying.

The 2022 announcement describes capital raised by Onramp, not a funding amount available to an individual seller. It does not establish a seller’s approval odds, advance size, cost, or repayment schedule. Nor does it disclose the amount of the company’s financing that was equity versus credit. For a seller evaluating an offer, the useful details are the repayment method and frequency, duration, total fee and any APR calculation, whether the facility is revolving, and how much capital the business expects to use.
