What is Ontology’s 2026 roadmap?
Ontology frames 2026 as a move from building foundational technology toward delivering practical value from its existing identity, reputation and privacy stack. Its central product idea is to bring those capabilities together through ONTO Wallet, while continuing work on the public chain, credentials and potential AI use cases. These are goals stated by the project, not an independent assessment of progress or proof that every proposed feature is live. Ontology’s 2026 roadmap describes the plan as “The work ahead is not about building more technology. It is about delivering value from the technology we have already built.”
What does Ontology plan to change in ONTO Wallet?
Ontology intends to selectively incorporate or re-expose functions associated with Orange Protocol, which focuses on reputation, and Ontello, which focuses on privacy, within ONTO Wallet. The wallet already serves as the home for the ONT ID identity layer, and the proposed direction is one interface for identity, credentials, reputation and privacy.
Ontology also describes a future in which users could use accumulated reputation and verified data to access services and rewards. The roadmap does not establish that all these integrations or reward mechanisms have shipped. Readers should distinguish the roadmap’s intended product experience from features confirmed in the wallet today.

How do ONT ID and credentials fit into the plan?
Ontology says it plans to upgrade decentralized identifier (DID) and verifiable credential (VC) infrastructure for real-world asset scenarios while maintaining alignment with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards. Examples in the roadmap include tokenized assets, cross-border credentials and regulatory compliance frameworks.
The intended role is to make identity and claims about identity more useful across services and settings, while preserving interoperability. The roadmap does not provide implementation details, conformance results or launch dates for these upgrades, so standards alignment is a stated objective rather than demonstrated conformance for specific planned features.

What are Ontology’s blockchain and node priorities?
Ontology says it will continue optimizing the Ontology EVM and selectively integrate Ethereum Improvement Proposals intended to improve performance and developer flexibility. It also aims to make it easier to run nodes, broaden participation in staking and governance, and attract ecosystem participants through gamified, social and interactive experiences. The roadmap gives no quarter-by-quarter schedule or success measures for these initiatives.
For developers, Ontology’s documentation distinguishes Triones consensus nodes, synchronization nodes and single nodes used for private or test networks. Its Explorer is described as a public trust-verification tool for viewing activity and retrieving transaction, entity, contract and block information. Ontology is a public blockchain whose official repository describes its implementation in Go. The repository lists MainNet’s launch as June 30, 2018, and notes support for MainNet, TestNet and local private networks. Because repository branches and software releases can change, developers should check the repository’s current stable release information rather than assume its master branch is stable: Ontology’s official repository.
What do the roadmap’s ONG and gas-fee figures mean?
Ontology’s March 2026 roadmap reports the following tokenomics and fee figures. They are project-reported figures, not independently verified calculations in the roadmap.

These are intended directions, not documented deployments: the roadmap does not report live integrations, adoption numbers or demonstrated improvements to AI models. It presents verified data and token utility as possible roles for the network, not established outcomes.
What does the roadmap mean by data sovereignty?
Ontology’s broader vision is for users to own their information, control who can access it and potentially earn value from sharing it. It proposes that innovators could use data made available with user consent. This is project positioning; the roadmap does not guarantee that users will earn money or specify a particular monetization mechanism.
Is the roadmap a dated delivery plan?
No. The March 2026 roadmap describes priorities and intended product directions but does not attach release dates or measurable milestones to the main initiatives. Its statements are useful for understanding what Ontology says it wants to build and consolidate, but they do not by themselves confirm delivery.
Ontology’s official history page records earlier milestones including MainNet’s 2018 launch, ONT ID passing 1.5 million users in 2021, and 2024 goals involving DID adoption, staking, interoperability and Orange Protocol’s Humanity Score.
