Was Sean “Diddy” Combs an Investor in Elon Musk’s Twitter Deal? What the Record Shows

Sean Combs Capital, LLC appeared on the disclosed investor list connected to Musk’s Twitter acquisition, but the list does not reveal Combs’s personal contribution. His 2025 federal case ended in acquittals on two counts, convictions on two others, and a 50-month sentence.

Yes—but the disclosed investor list named Sean Combs Capital, LLC, not Combs personally, among investors in X Holdings Corp., the entity connected to Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. The list does not establish how much Combs personally invested. Separately, Combs was acquitted in 2025 of sex-trafficking and racketeering-conspiracy charges, convicted on two transportation-to-engage-in-prostitution counts, and sentenced to 50 months in prison.

What the Twitter investor disclosure says

Twitter, now called X, was acquired by Elon Musk in October 2022 in a deal valued at $44 billion, according to The Washington Post’s August 21, 2024 report. A federal judge later ordered the investor list for X Holdings Corp. unsealed. The list included Sean Combs Capital, LLC.

That disclosure supports a limited conclusion: an entity bearing Combs’s name was listed as an investor in X Holdings Corp. It does not establish the amount of that entity’s investment or how much money Combs personally contributed. The $44 billion figure refers to the reported value of Musk’s Twitter acquisition, not Combs’s investment.

What happened in the federal criminal case

The 2024 indictment was an accusation, not a verdict

On September 17, 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced an indictment charging Combs with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and other offenses. An indictment sets out prosecutors’ allegations; it is not a finding that the accused committed them. In the announcement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said, “As alleged in the Indictment, for years, COMBS used the business empire he controlled to sexually abuse and exploit women, as well as to commit other acts of violence and obstruction of justice.” Williams expressly framed this as an allegation.

The 2025 verdict and sentence

In July 2025, a jury acquitted Combs of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy and found him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. In October 2025, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison on those convictions. The acquittals mean the jury did not find him guilty of the sex-trafficking and racketeering-conspiracy counts; they should not be described as proven conduct.

How to keep the two stories separate

The investor-list disclosure concerns a business entity’s place on a list associated with X Holdings Corp. The federal case concerns criminal charges, a jury verdict, and a sentence. The disclosure does not establish a connection between the investment and the alleged or proven conduct in the criminal case, and the case outcome does not change what the investor list says.
