BulletFarm is a Los Angeles-based game studio announced by NetEase Games on February 28, 2024, with former Call of Duty and Black Ops lead David Vonderhaar at its helm. What BulletFarm is
NetEase introduced BulletFarm as a remote-first AAA studio headquartered in Los Angeles and a new addition to NetEase Games’ portfolio. At launch, David Vonderhaar was named studio lead and Chris Cowell was named creative director. BulletFarm’s current About page lists Vonderhaar as Studio Head and President, Cowell as Creative Director, and Paul Watkins as Technical Director. Those are the roles shown on the studio’s page, not confirmation of its current funding arrangement.
Vonderhaar is known for his leadership on Call of Duty, especially the Black Ops series. That background helps explain the interest in BulletFarm, but it does not establish that the studio is making a Call of Duty-style game. In the launch announcement, Vonderhaar described the project as a departure from his previous work and emphasized rich characters, precise mechanics, intimate storytelling, and action.
What game BulletFarm announced in 2024
The February 28, 2024 announcement described an AAA game set in an original universe, built in Unreal Engine 5, with a first-person experience and co-operative gameplay at its center. BulletFarm’s concise project page also describes multiplayer, co-op, PvE, and PvEvP elements, but it repeats the studio-launch framing rather than supplying a dated, definitive update to the project’s status.

The NetEase announcement did not give the game a title, name platforms, set a release window, or specify a price or co-op player count. No released game or final product details have been announced in the cited material.
What changed after the launch announcement
BulletFarm’s official About page currently says the studio is “currently operating in stealth mode.” That describes the studio’s public posture, but does not by itself clarify whether its original 2024 concept remains in development.

In a May 13, 2026 report, GamesRadar+ said BulletFarm had lost NetEase funding and partnered with GreaterThan Group. The outlet also reported that a new first-person multiplayer/co-operative experience was in early development, based on a May 12 social post from BulletFarm. Treat the funding change and partner arrangement as reported by GamesRadar+; the official pages cited here do not independently confirm the full arrangement.
The available descriptions do not establish whether the 2026 project is the same game as the 2024 Unreal Engine 5 concept, or whether it represents a substantial change. The 2024 announcement specified an original universe, engine, and co-op emphasis; the 2026 report described a new early-stage project in broader terms. They should not be collapsed into one confirmed specification.
