The NYSE and Nasdaq were closed for U.S. equity trading on 10 full-day holidays in 2025. They also scheduled 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time early closes on July 3, November 28 and December 24. This is a historical schedule; investors planning future trades should check the latest calendar from their exchange and any broker notices.

2025 NYSE and Nasdaq full-day closures

Both exchanges listed the following 10 dates as full-day closures for U.S. equities. NYSE’s Holidays & Trading Hours and Nasdaq’s U.S. Holiday & Trading Hours schedule agree on these dates.

Date Holiday NYSE Nasdaq
Wednesday, January 1 New Year’s Day Closed Closed
Monday, January 20 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Closed Closed
Monday, February 17 Washington’s Birthday / Presidents Day Closed Closed
Friday, April 18 Good Friday Closed Closed
Monday, May 26 Memorial Day Closed Closed
Thursday, June 19 Juneteenth National Independence Day Closed Closed
Friday, July 4 Independence Day Closed Closed
Monday, September 1 Labor Day Closed Closed
Thursday, November 27 Thanksgiving Day Closed Closed
Thursday, December 25 Christmas Day Closed Closed

2025 early closes: July 3, November 28 and December 24

NYSE and Nasdaq scheduled early closes at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on these three dates:

Date Occasion Scheduled early close
Thursday, July 3 Day before Independence Day 1:00 p.m. ET
Friday, November 28 Day after Thanksgiving 1:00 p.m. ET
Wednesday, December 24 Christmas Eve 1:00 p.m. ET

The 1:00 p.m. time is not necessarily the end of every session or product. NYSE lists eligible options as closing at 1:15 p.m. ET on those dates, and certain NYSE late trading sessions as closing at 5:00 p.m. ET. Session hours vary by venue and product, so check the applicable exchange schedule rather than treating the equity early close as a universal cutoff. Nasdaq says it issues trader alerts for closures and early closes; its December 2025 Christmas alert confirmed the December 24 early close, December 25 closure and regular schedule on December 26. 4X Trading Journal for Day Traders | Trade Log Book for Stocks, Forex, Options, Crypto | 12 Week Plan with 80 Trades | Trading Accessories | Neuroscience Based with Guided Trading Plan | Traders Gift
  • BUILT FOR YOUR MARKET, FUTURES, STOCKS, FOREX, OPTIONS & CRYPTO: 4X is a mindset and process journal, not a strategy tool tied to one instrument. The plan, the trade log, the deep dive and the weekly review work the same whether you trade ES, EURUSD, SPY or BTC. Traders use it across all five markets every day.
  • THE 2026 EDITION, REBUILT FROM TRADER FEEDBACK: Same trusted system, better in every way. An extra daily page for more room to log the session. Weekly reviews now grouped with each week's trades, so no more flipping back and forth. Crisp, darker print that's easy on the eyes after hours on a screen. A Quick-Start QR that scans straight to step-by-step instructions.
  • NOT A NOTEBOOK, A COMPLETE 12-WEEK SYSTEM: Start with a one-time 9-part Trading Plan (your market, setups, risk rules and discipline checklist). Then twelve identical weeks: five Daily Logs, five Deep Dive trade pages, and a two-page Weekly Review. 189 guided pages, roughly 80 trades. Guided prompts walk you through every step. You never stare at a blank page.
  • RATE YOUR EXECUTION, NOT YOUR RESULT: Your platform tracks the P&L. Nothing tracks the why. Log energy, sleep and mindset before the open; grade every trade A to F on whether you followed your plan, not on whether it won; then face the pattern every weekend with START / STOP / IMPROVE / CONTINUE. That review habit is the edge. You're 42% more likely to hit a goal you've written down.
  • BUILT TO LAST, ARRIVES GIFT-READY: Vegan-leather hardcover, 100gsm bleed-resistant paper, two ribbon markers and an elastic closure band. Bound to lay flat so you're not fighting the spine while you write. 189 pages, 5.75" x 8.5", carries in a bag. Ships in a premium gift box: the gift every trader in your life actually wants.

How to use the schedule when planning a trade

  • Confirm the market. This list covers the NYSE and Nasdaq U.S. equity schedules, not bond, futures, foreign-exchange or overseas stock-market calendars.
  • Check whether it is a closure or early close. On full-day holidays, regular equity trading is closed; early-close days have a shortened schedule, with product and session differences.
  • Verify the year and latest notice. The NYSE calendar is subject to change, and Nasdaq provides trader alerts. For future dates, use the latest official exchange calendar and check broker notices.
  • Check settlement or corporate-action timing separately. The NYSE’s 2025 Trading Calendar notes that a DTCC closure is not counted as a settlement date when setting a record date. That specialized rule should not be inferred from the exchange holiday list; confirm record-date and settlement questions with the issuer, broker and relevant market infrastructure.

Why a bank holiday does not always mean stocks are closed

Bank-holiday calendars and exchange trading calendars are not interchangeable. NYSE’s 2025 calendar distinguishes bank holidays on which the exchange remains open from exchange holidays. If a date matters for a trade, verify it on the relevant market’s official calendar instead of assuming a bank or federal holiday automatically closes stock trading.

This is a historical 2025 calendar

The dates above describe the NYSE and Nasdaq 2025 U.S. equity schedules. They are not a current schedule for 2026 or later. The NYSE notes that calendar dates are subject to change; Nasdaq publishes holiday schedules and operational alerts. For a future trade, consult the latest official calendar for the specific exchange, market and product, then check your broker for any separate processing or service schedules.
