Will goods transporters strike on October 10?
The All-Pakistan Goods Transporters Association had announced a strike from October 10, according to Pakistan Times on October 3. But ProPakistani reported on October 6 that the association postponed the planned wheel-jam strike because of the PTI sit-in situation. Organizers said they would decide their next course after the long march.
As of the latest report located, the October action was postponed, not confirmed as underway or definitively canceled. The report does not establish whether the October 15 date mentioned in an earlier account remained in effect on October 8.
Did transporters already halt goods across Pakistan?
Yes, a separate nationwide stoppage was reported in August. Geo News said the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance began an indefinite strike on August 8, with freight operators suspending services nationwide over fuel costs, diesel price adjustments, taxes, tolls and regulatory measures. The alliance called for less frequent fuel-price adjustments and tax and toll relief. Geo News reported the strike’s start.

Why was the October strike threatened?
Pakistan Times reported that the October association’s demands included releasing detained vehicles and containers, compensation for affected owners, lower diesel costs, and an end to fines and what the association described as harassment during sales-tax invoice checks. It sought compensation of Rs20,000–Rs35,000 per affected owner; that was a demand, not an approved or paid amount.
The reported grievances and claims are those of the association; the report does not independently verify them. Nor should they be assumed to be the same demands made during the August stoppage, whose reported issues centered on fuel pricing, taxes, tolls and regulation.
