Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi resigned as K-Electric CEO in February 2026. Adeeb Ahmad served as interim CEO from February 13, and Syed Muhammad Taha took charge as CEO on April 15. K-Electric’s leadership page lists Taha as CEO, so the earlier expectation that the board would announce a successor “soon” is no longer current.

Who is Syed Muhammad Taha?
Taha previously served as managing director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil from February 2020, according to K-Electric. He had also worked at K-Electric as Chief Distribution Officer and held roles at Shell, Caltex/Chevron, and Pakistan Steel Mills. These are career details stated in the company’s April 16 announcement.
In that announcement, K-Electric attributed to Taha’s PSO tenure Rs 3.3 trillion in net sales and consolidated EPS of Rs 35.03 for FY2025. Those are company-reported figures for that fiscal year, not a measure of K-Electric’s own financial performance.
What did Alvi’s resignation announcement establish?
K-Electric said Alvi joined the organization in 2008 and became CEO in 2018. The company’s July 8, 2025 announcement said its board had reappointed him effective July 30, 2025. K-Electric’s reappointment announcement

What Taha said when he took charge
K-Electric’s April 16 announcement quoted Taha describing the role as a responsibility during a sector-wide transformation. He said his priorities would include agility, service reliability, and future-ready technologies to support Karachi’s growth.
