It was the Best Bank award at the Pakistan Banking Awards. Meezan Bank’s 2023 annual report identifies 2018, 2020 and 2023 as its wins at the awards, calling the 2023 recognition its third. The report says the ceremony was organized by the Institute of Bankers Pakistan, in partnership with Dawn Media Group and in collaboration with A.F. Ferguson & Company. How was the award decided?
The available descriptions point to jury evaluation, not a customer-facing rating or an automatic certification. Meezan’s 2020 award release says a five-member jury assessed bank performance and resource management, including employees, clients, franchise, community and financials; it says the panel was chaired by former State Bank of Pakistan Governor Syed Salim Raza. The 2018 release describes a seven-member jury and a detailed evaluation and performance review. As institutional recognition, the award does not by itself guarantee a particular customer outcome, prove that every Meezan product outperforms alternatives, or amount to a regulator’s certification of the bank’s services.

Is the 2025 CFA Society Pakistan award the same recognition?
No. Meezan separately reported receiving CFA Society Pakistan’s “Best Bank of the Year – Large Size Banks” award for the sixth consecutive year in 2025, as well as a Best Islamic Bank of the Year recognition.
