There is no evidence-based overall winner: the official announcements give neither a comparable U.S. price nor a taste-test result. The better pick depends on whether you wanted pickle-seasoned fries and socks or SpongeBob-themed food, packaging and collectibles.
What came in the U.S. McDonald’s Grinch Meal?
McDonald’s USA announced the Grinch Meal on November 20, 2025, with a launch date of December 2 at participating restaurants nationwide. The limited-time meal paired Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt” McShaker Fries with a choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a medium drink and a pair of Grinch socks. The seasoning was intended to be shaken into the McShaker bag. The U.S. announcement did not state a price. (McDonald’s USA announcement)
What was on Burger King’s SpongeBob menu?
Burger King announced its SpongeBob Movie Menu on December 1, 2025. The four featured items were:
- SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper: a quarter-pound 100% beef patty on a yellow square bun, with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayonnaise and ketchup.
- Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots.
- Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie.
- Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float.
The Bikini Bottom Bundle grouped all four limited-time items in a pineapple-shaped box; the announcement specifies a medium float and eight-piece tots in the bundle. A separate King Jr. Meal came in a pineapple-shaped box with one of six announced SpongeBob toys and a limited-edition crown. Burger King’s announcement did not provide a comparable bundle price. Which promotion offered more variety?
Burger King’s campaign had more distinct themed food items: a burger, savory tots, a pie and a frozen float. McDonald’s centered its offer on one meal format, with the choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece nuggets, plus seasoned fries, a drink and socks. That makes Burger King the clearer choice if variety across themed foods is your main criterion; it does not establish that its food tasted better or was better value.
Which one is the better value?
The available U.S. announcements do not support a price comparison. McDonald’s did not list a U.S. Grinch Meal price, and Burger King did not give a comparable price for the Bikini Bottom Bundle. Without prices for comparable complete orders, there is no sound basis for calling either promotion the better deal. Local restaurant pricing and availability are not established by the launch announcements.

Are these promotions still available?
Both companies described their U.S. campaigns as limited-time promotions, but the announcements do not establish current inventory or a return date. They launched in December 2025; check with a local restaurant or its current ordering channel for availability rather than assuming either offer is still on the menu.

McDonald’s used different Grinch Meal lineups in the U.K. and Canada, so those offers should not be treated as the U.S. product or used to fill in its missing price.

- U.K.: The November 20, 2025 announcement listed a Big Mac, nine-piece McNuggets or McPlant option, Grinched McShaker Fries, a drink and mismatched socks.
