It is a third-party estimate—not a verified figure for Hart individually. The sources reviewed do not establish her current personal net worth.
What is Mary Hart’s net worth?
The clearest widely published figure is Celebrity Net Worth’s $100 million estimate for Hart and Sugarman together. The site does not make that amount a confirmed accounting of Hart’s separate finances. No reviewed source provides an audited disclosure or enough information to calculate her individual net worth.
An IBTimes UK search result surfaced an estimate of around $120 million, but the available material did not explain its calculation. That figure cannot be reliably reconciled with Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate; neither should be presented as an official disclosure. Net-worth figures published for celebrities are estimates unless supported by documented financial information.
Why the estimates do not establish her individual wealth
A couple’s combined estimate and an individual net-worth figure answer different questions. Celebrity Net Worth explicitly combines Hart’s estimate with Sugarman’s, while the reviewed sources do not independently quantify Hart’s current assets, debts, investments, property, taxes, or the couple’s separate finances. The evidence therefore does not support assigning a precise current amount to Hart alone or explaining how the published estimate was calculated.

What is known about Mary Hart’s salary?
In 2001, Broadcasting & Cable reported that Hart was expected to earn over $5 million per year under a new five-season Entertainment Tonight contract. That is a historical report about expected annual contract pay—not a current salary, a verified record of what she ultimately received, or a measure of net worth. It cannot be multiplied across her career to establish lifetime earnings.
Hart also described a contract arrangement in a 1990 Los Angeles Times interview. She said it included two specials per year alongside her Entertainment Tonight hosting duties. This offers context about her work at the time, but does not disclose compensation or establish her wealth.

Career context behind the estimates
CBS News reported in 2007 that Hart joined Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent in 1982 and became co-host a few weeks later. Celebrity Net Worth says she stepped down in 2011. Her long television career provides context for why salary and net-worth claims attract attention, but career milestones alone do not reveal her assets or personal finances.
A Los Angeles Times profile noted that a $2 million insurance policy on Hart’s legs lasted one day as a publicity stunt. It was not an asset valuation or evidence of her net worth.

How to assess a celebrity net-worth claim
- Check whose wealth is counted. A figure for a couple should not be relabeled as one person’s individual net worth.
- Look for a transparent basis. A published estimate is not the same as an audited disclosure or a documented balance sheet.
- Keep salary in context. A reported contract amount applies to its stated period and terms; it is not interchangeable with accumulated wealth.
- Compare dates and definitions. Different publishers may use different assumptions, and a later estimate is not necessarily more reliable if its method is not explained.
