What happened on July 31, 2024?
Reuters reported that more than 100 venture capitalists, including Cuban, backed Harris and pledged to vote for her on November 5, 2024. The effort was framed around investors; it was not an endorsement by the entire venture-capital industry.
The Information quoted the group’s letter describing its signers as “pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress.” It also said the letter connected the election to the stability of democratic institutions. The quoted words were the group’s, not a statement attributed to Cuban individually.
How many people signed, and who were they?
There is no single definitive total established by the available reporting. Reuters counted more than 100 venture capitalists. Axios described more than 200 supporters using a broader grouping that included investors, founders, and technology leaders. Those figures reflect different descriptions of the coalition, not a confirmed shared counting method.

Reuters named Reid Hoffman, Chris Sacca, Katie Stanton, Eva Ho, and Rebecca Kaden among the investors. Axios’s broader account also named Vinod Khosla and Ron Conway. These are examples, not a complete verified roster; the reporting does not establish every signer.
Why did Mark Cuban support Harris?
The July letter’s stated rationale joined business, entrepreneurship, and technological progress with concern for democratic institutions. Cuban later offered a more specific explanation of his own priorities. In an Associated Press report published September 25, 2024, he said on a call with reporters arranged by the Harris campaign: “I want a president that for business goes into details and has a policy team that understands all the ramifications of what’s been proposed.” That later comment should not be mistaken for a quotation from the July letter.

What did signers say about technology policy?
A later Fast Company report described a survey of 225 venture capitalists who had signed a support letter and responded. Among those respondents, 97% wanted leaders knowledgeable about AI and cryptocurrency to build effective regulations, and nearly 92% believed the federal government should hire more technology talent. These survey results describe respondents’ views; they do not establish that every July letter signer held those positions.

Yes. On September 6, 2024, CBS reported that more than 90 business leaders signed a separate letter endorsing Harris. Cuban was among them, alongside Earvin “Magic” Johnson and James Murdoch. This later business-leader letter was distinct from the July venture-capital effort, so its signers and count should not be combined with the July figures.
