Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan were in the audience, but Eilish did not name Zuckerberg in the quoted remarks. The claim that he looked upset and did not clap comes from an eyewitness account relayed by People and reported by Futurism; it does not establish what he felt or why he did not applaud.
What Billie Eilish said about billionaires
Accepting the Music Innovator Award at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, Eilish appealed to people with money to use it to help others. The Associated Press quoted her saying: “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? And no hate, but give your money away, shorties.”

She also described the moment as one when people need empathy and help, saying the world was “really, really bad and really dark.” Her remarks were a broad appeal about wealth and giving; in the quoted passage, she did not direct an accusation at Zuckerberg by name. The Associated Press report covers the speech and event.
Was Mark Zuckerberg at the speech?
Yes. AP reported that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, were among those in the audience. Their presence establishes that they were there; it does not establish that Eilish’s general remarks were aimed specifically at Zuckerberg.
#1 Best Overall
- Billie Eilish's third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released via Darkroom/Interscope Records is her most daring body of work to date, a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs - ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end - does exactly as the album title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way
Did Zuckerberg refuse to clap?
Futurism reported that an eyewitness told People that Zuckerberg looked “visibly peeved” and did not clap after Eilish’s speech. That description is an attributed account of what one eyewitness said, not a verified finding about Zuckerberg’s expression, feelings, or motive. The available reporting does not explain why he did not clap. Futurism’s account relays the eyewitness characterization.

AP reported that Eilish announced $11.5 million from proceeds of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour would go to causes including food equity, climate justice, and reducing carbon pollution. This was the amount of tour proceeds she announced for those causes, not a claim about a personal donation by Zuckerberg or Chan.
