Four shoppers argued over the last reformer Pilates machine during an ALDI Special Buys release at Karrinyup in Perth, according to a witness quoted by PerthNow on March 2, 2024. The report put the machine’s price at $300, but did not identify its model or independently verify the witness’s account. The incident is historical; it does not mean the same product or price is available now.
What happened at Karrinyup ALDI?
PerthNow placed the incident at the Karrinyup ALDI on Saturday, March 2, 2024. A witness told the paper that the store doors opened at 8:30 a.m. and that four shoppers disputed who had reached a reformer Pilates machine first.
“It was intense, they were yelling at each other saying they got there first — they wouldn’t let go of the box, all four of them,” the witness told PerthNow. The witness said a manager intervened and told the four shoppers they would not be able to buy the machine, after which security escorted them out. The report does not include a response from ALDI or independent confirmation of the sequence.
What was the Special Buy, and what did it cost?
The item was described as a reformer Pilates machine priced at $300. PerthNow said comparable machines usually retailed for approximately $2,000, but did not name the ALDI model or provide an independent source for that comparison. Those figures describe the 2024 report, not a current offer or verified like-for-like price comparison.

There is no evidence here of a universal fixed limit. A 7NEWS report published May 25, 2020 said ALDI confirmed there were no official Special Buys purchase limits at that time, although store managers could impose limits at their discretion. ALDI’s current Special Buys page says it reserves the right to limit purchases to reasonable quantities in cases of unexpectedly high demand.
