The membership fee is $65, matching Costco’s listed U.S. Gold Star annual fee. The $45 card reduces the effective cost to $20 only if you qualify and spend the card’s full value. It does not reduce the amount charged at checkout, and unused credit is not cash back. Who qualifies for the partner offer?
According to the StackSocial listing, the promotion is limited to new members and people whose Costco memberships have been expired for more than 18 months. It is available to customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, is nontransferable, cannot be combined with another promotion, and is limited to one promotion per household. How this differs from Costco’s own joining offer
Costco’s join page currently advertises a separate online-only incentive: a $20 Shop Card with Gold Star or a $40 Shop Card with Executive. To qualify, a new member must set up auto renewal at signup using a Visa credit or debit card or a Mastercard debit card. Costco’s page excludes anyone who held a Costco membership in any capacity during the previous 18 months. These are Costco’s direct-join terms, not the StackSocial offer’s terms. Costco says Executive members earn a 2% annual reward on qualified Costco purchases, up to $1,250. That is a reward on eligible purchases, not a guaranteed rebate on everything you buy; the company profile excerpt does not detail the exclusions. The available offer listings establish that StackSocial currently advertises the $45 Shop Card promotion and Costco separately advertises its own Shop Card incentives. They do not establish how either compares with every Costco promotion offered throughout the year, so calling this definitively the year’s best deal would go beyond the evidence. Costco Customer Service says it does not offer free or discounted memberships, while noting that savings from shopping may help recover the membership cost.
