Indeed reported plans to lay off 92 workers associated with its Seattle office, including remote employees, with separations scheduled for September 9, 2025. The figure comes from a Washington WARN filing summarized by WA Labor Intelligence; it records a planned workforce action, not confirmation that exactly 92 people ultimately left. GeekWire reported the Seattle-associated cuts were part of a broader reduction of 1,300 workers across Indeed and Glassdoor.
What the Seattle WARN notice says
Washington’s Employment Security Department WARN record, as summarized by WA Labor Intelligence, lists Indeed, Inc., 92 affected workers, King County, a filing date of July 10, 2025, and an effective date of September 9, 2025. GeekWire’s July 10 report said the Seattle-office group included remote employees. The dates refer to different points in the notice: July 10 is when it was filed; September 9 was the planned effective date.
A WARN notice documents a planned employment action. The available record summary and news report do not establish how many people ultimately separated, so 92 should be described as the reported notice count rather than a verified final total. See the WA Labor Intelligence notice summary and GeekWire’s July 10, 2025 report.
How the 92 fit into Indeed’s broader cuts
GeekWire reported that Indeed and its sister company Glassdoor were cutting 1,300 workers globally. That is the broader company-wide figure; it is not a Seattle total. The same report cited LinkedIn data estimating that Indeed had about 370 Seattle-area employees before the cuts. That estimate was attributed to LinkedIn, not confirmed by Indeed, and should not be treated as a current headcount.

Company context and reported roles
The layoffs were reported amid Recruit Holdings’ plan to integrate Glassdoor into Indeed’s operations while retaining Glassdoor’s brand and platform. GeekWire reported that Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong would step down. Recruit is Indeed’s Japanese parent company.
A Recruit Holdings representative told GeekWire the reductions primarily affected U.S. roles in research and development, human resources, and sustainability. The report did not provide a complete list of affected functions or establish that those were the only teams involved.

What leadership said about AI
Indeed and Recruit Holdings CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba referred to AI in an employee message about the cuts. GeekWire quoted him saying, “AI is changing the world, and we must adapt by ensuring our product delivers truly great experiences for job seekers and employers.” He also said the company needed to “move faster, try new things, and fix what’s broken” and create a structure and culture to support its priorities.
Those remarks describe leadership’s stated product and organizational priorities. They do not, by themselves, establish AI as the sole cause of the layoffs or explain the decision affecting every role.

Career support for affected workers
Washington’s WARN tracker describes public-facing support options such as career counseling, resume help, job-search assistance, and retraining resources. Workers seeking help can consult the Washington WARN tracker for resource information. The cited material does not establish that these services were provided by Indeed or that any particular program was available to every affected worker.
