The headline “JF 17 Stocks Continue to Surge as Rafale Comes Tumbling Down” described a reported market reaction in May 2025—not current stock performance, and not proof that a particular fighter won an air battle. TechJuice reported gains for Chengdu shares and a decline in Dassault Aviation shares, but its article did not identify the source of its market data. The combat reporting separately attributed an assessment of Indian aircraft losses to U.S. officials, while the full count and aircraft types remained contested.
What did the May 2025 stock headline report?
TechJuice reported Chengdu shares at CNY 95.86 at 9:45 a.m. Pakistan time on the article’s publication day, and said the shares had risen 63% since May 5. It also reported Dassault Aviation shares at EUR 314.6 on May 9 at 5:35:23 p.m. GMT+2, down 3% over the same period. These are figures reported by TechJuice; its page does not name a market-data provider or cite an underlying exchange record.
The two percentage changes refer to the interval since May 5, as reported by TechJuice; they should not be confused with daily moves. The figures are historical, not live quotes. Associated Press coverage describes a broad market reaction—AVIC Chengdu Aircraft shares rose, while Dassault Aviation shares fell sharply on Wednesday and had recovered by Thursday’s close—but does not independently substantiate TechJuice’s exact prices, percentages, or explanation for the movements.
What are “JF-17 stocks,” and what does Chengdu have to do with them?
“JF-17 stocks” is an imprecise phrase. The JF-17 Thunder and China’s Chengdu J-10 are different aircraft. The headline’s reference to Chengdu shares does not establish that the shares track JF-17 production or combat results. Reuters reporting associated Chinese-made J-10 aircraft with attacks on Indian aircraft, while AP described a market reaction in shares of AVIC Chengdu Aircraft. A company’s share price is not a direct measure of any one aircraft model’s performance.

Did Pakistan shoot down a Rafale?
Reuters reported that two U.S. officials assessed that Pakistani Chinese-made jets had brought down at least two Indian aircraft. That is an attributed assessment, not a publicly confirmed, itemized loss record specifying every aircraft type. Pakistan made higher claims, including claims involving Rafales, but those claims are not fully confirmed by the reporting cited here.
On May 11, Indian Air Marshal A.K. Bharti said that “losses are a part of combat” and that all pilots were back home. His statement acknowledged losses but did not give an aircraft count or confirm every Pakistani claim. Praveen Donthi, a senior analyst with the International Crisis Group, described an “explosion of disinformation stemming from a lack of official confirmation,” as quoted by the Associated Press on May 9, 2025.

Did the clash cause Dassault shares to fall and Chengdu shares to rise?
The timing and direction of the reported moves are not, by themselves, proof of cause. AP’s account provides qualitative context for a rise in AVIC Chengdu Aircraft shares and a fall in Dassault Aviation shares followed by a recovery. The TechJuice article links the market story to the air-combat reports, but the sources available here do not establish a proven financial causal relationship or provide a matched series of primary exchange prices to verify its percentages.
A reliable comparison would require closing prices for both stocks on matching dates, with the relevant exchanges and currencies identified. It would also distinguish a one-day change from a change over the May 5 interval and place each market move alongside the timing of the news. Without that, it is more accurate to call this a reported market reaction than to say the combat outcome demonstrably drove either share price.

How to read the headline as an investor
- Check the date: The figures concern May 2025 and do not indicate what either stock is doing now.
- Separate the companies from the aircraft: A movement in an aerospace company’s shares does not verify a combat claim about a specific model.
- Keep claims attributed: Distinguish reporting of officials’ assessments from public confirmation, and from claims by parties to the conflict.
- Verify price data before comparing: Look for exchange-level prices with matched dates and clearly stated currencies; do not treat TechJuice’s unreferenced figures as independently verified.
