LIC’s written exams have also been held. Candidates following the process should use the official recruitment notices and results for the latest role-specific updates; a shortlist is not itself confirmation of appointment.
LIC recruitment 2025: application status and key dates
The application window for the 2025 Generalist recruitment ran from August 16 through September 8, 2025. Candidates cannot apply now under that closed window. LIC’s notice specified online applications only for that cycle.
The Generalist notice initially listed October 3, 2025, as the tentative preliminary exam date and November 8 as the tentative mains date. LIC’s recruitment page records preliminary exams held on October 3 and October 7, mains on November 8, preliminary and mains results, and notices for pre-recruitment medical shortlists. Check the dated notices on LIC’s recruitment page for current status and any later steps.
How the 841 advertised posts were divided
LIC advertised 841 posts across three role groups. The total and reserved vacancies were provisional and could change according to LIC’s actual requirements.
#1 Best Overall
| Role group | Posts | Breakdown |
|---|---|---|
| AAO Generalist | 350 | Generalist |
| AAO Specialist | 410 | 30 Chartered Accountant; 10 Company Secretary; 30 Actuarial; 310 Insurance Specialist; 30 Legal |
| Assistant Engineer | 81 | 50 Civil; 31 Electrical |
The three tracks are not interchangeable. A Generalist degree requirement should not be read as qualifying a candidate for a professional specialist or engineering post; each role has its own qualification requirements in the relevant LIC notice.
AAO Generalist eligibility in the 2025 cycle
Age limit
For AAO Generalist, the notice set the minimum age at 21 and maximum at 30 as of August 1, 2025. The eligible birth-date range was August 2, 1995, through August 1, 2004, inclusive. The notice also provided upper-age relaxations for listed categories; applicants needed to check its category-specific terms.
Rank #2
Education
The stated educational requirement for Generalist was a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university or institution. These are requirements for the 2025 cycle, not a guarantee of eligibility under a future recruitment notice.
Specialist and engineer qualifications
Specialist openings covered Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, Actuarial, Insurance Specialist and Legal roles; AE openings covered Civil and Electrical engineering. Consult the specific official notification and any posted clarification for the relevant post’s required qualification, credentials or experience. LIC’s specialist and AE notices provide the role-specific details.

What applicants should check next
If you applied, use LIC’s recruitment page to verify the latest dated result, shortlist or other notice for your post. LIC’s broader Careers page links to the archived 2025 recruitment entry. Read the applicable notice rather than inferring final selection or appointment from a preliminary result or medical-stage shortlist.
For a future LIC cycle, check the new notification before relying on these dates, age limits or education rules: recruitment terms can differ from one cycle and post to another.
