No: Mike Sievert is not T-Mobile’s CEO and has not been ousted from that job. Srini Gopalan became president and CEO on November 1, 2025, in a succession T-Mobile described as planned. The date that may fuel speculation is November 1, 2026, when Sievert’s initial term as vice chairman was scheduled to end. T-Mobile’s public documents reviewed here do not establish whether that separate role was extended.
What happened to Mike Sievert at T-Mobile?
Sievert ceased to be CEO on November 1, 2025, when Gopalan took over as president and CEO. Sievert moved into the vice chairman role and continued on T-Mobile’s Board and in management, according to the company’s announcement and its SEC filing.
Gopalan had joined T-Mobile as chief operating officer in March 2025. The company announced the handoff on September 22, 2025, and said it followed a multi-year succession-planning process led by Sievert and the Board. That is T-Mobile’s stated account; the public documents do not establish private motives or show that Sievert was forced out.
Why is November 1, 2026 a separate date to watch?
T-Mobile’s September 2025 Form 8-K says Sievert’s vice chairman term was initially scheduled to terminate on November 1, 2026, unless the company and Sievert mutually extended it in writing. That contractual date concerns the vice chairman position, not his former CEO job.

The company’s 2026 proxy confirms Gopalan as CEO and Sievert as vice chairman. The public documents reviewed do not confirm whether Sievert’s vice chairman term was extended. Therefore, the scheduled date is not proof that he will leave the role on that day, and it does not make a future departure an imminent CEO ouster.

What T-Mobile’s governance documents add
T-Mobile’s 2026 proxy says Deutsche Telekom held approximately 54.5% of T-Mobile’s outstanding common stock voting control as of March 31, 2026, and had the right under the stockholders’ agreement to designate 10 directors. Those facts provide governance context, but they do not establish that Deutsche Telekom caused the CEO transition or explain any private motivation.

When announcing Gopalan, T-Mobile said the transition was consistent with the Board’s “comprehensive succession planning process” and its aim of continuing the company’s growth strategy. Sievert said he was excited to announce Gopalan as the next CEO. These are statements made by the company and Sievert at the time, not independent proof of undisclosed reasons.
