The selection test was scheduled for February 8, 2025, so those dates have passed. This is a notice about the 2025-26 admission cycle, not an open application announcement.
What were the key JNVST 2025-26 dates?

The two classes had separate eligibility conditions and test subjects. Admission was for expected vacancies, not a guaranteed seat for every applicant.
Who could apply for Class IX lateral entry?
For the 2025-26 cycle, the Class IX notice required a candidate to be a bona fide resident of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is located and to be studying Class VIII during the 2024-25 academic session at a government or government-recognized school in that district. The notice set the date-of-birth range at May 1, 2010 through July 31, 2012, inclusive, for all categories.
These are criteria from a copy of the cycle notice hosted outside the NVS domain. Applicants in a later cycle should use that cycle’s official prospectus rather than relying on these dates or requirements.

Students studying Class X in the 2024-25 academic session could apply under the Class XI lateral-entry prospectus. District-wise merit considered both residence and Class X study in the concerned district; the prospectus also described state-level merit for remaining vacancies.
The prospectus allowed candidates to select up to two streams and up to three JNV choices per stream. Selection depended on available vacancies and accommodation. A provisional selection did not by itself secure admission: the candidate still had to pass Class X and provide supporting documents.

What did the selection tests cover?
- Class IX: Mental Ability, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
- Class XI: Hindi, English, Mathematics and Science.
The notices describe objective-type tests with bilingual Hindi-English questions. The cycle-specific prospectus contains the detailed syllabus and selection criteria.
How were applications submitted?
Applications were online and registration was free. The historical process reported for the 2025-26 cycle was:

- Enter the candidate’s details and upload the required documents.
- Preview the application, submit it, then download and print a copy for your records.
The Class XI prospectus specified that the photograph and candidate and parent signatures be uploaded as JPG files of 10 to 100 KB. It also said JNV help desks could assist with uploading applications free of charge. The fee-free application did not require buying a preparation product or paying someone to submit it.

No. The dates above belong to the 2025-26 cycle and have passed. Current NVS portal information concerns a separate 2027-28 cycle and states an extended application deadline of October 15, 2026. Check the relevant official portal for that cycle’s class, eligibility, dates and instructions: Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Do not use an old 2025 application link or assume the earlier eligibility rules apply.
