What is Kazunori Yamauchi’s net worth? No reliable, verified figure for his personal wealth can be established from the authoritative sources reviewed. Sony identifies him as the creator of the Gran Turismo series and president of Polyphony Digital, but neither that role nor the franchise’s sales total reveals his salary, ownership stake, investments, assets, or debts.
Is Kazunori Yamauchi’s net worth publicly known?
A defensible estimate requires attributable financial evidence and a clear method for calculating assets minus liabilities. The sources available here do not provide a personal financial disclosure or a methodology-backed estimate for Yamauchi. Online net-worth figures should therefore be treated as unverified, not as established facts.

The FIA’s June 26, 2014 interview describes him as head of Polyphony Digital and discusses the studio’s detailed circuit recreation and collaboration with the FIA. Yamauchi said, “We want each and every circuit exactly as it is in real life and the collaborating with the FIA is a big part of it.” This offers career context, not evidence of income.
In a September 9, 2021 PlayStation.Blog announcement, Yamauchi was identified as Polyphony Digital’s president and creator of Gran Turismo. He described GT7’s objective as conveying “everything from the last 150 years of car and racing culture,” for both lifelong fans and people discovering cars for the first time. The statement describes the creative aim of the game, not his financial arrangement.

Does Gran Turismo’s sales milestone reveal his wealth?
No. The official Gran Turismo report says the series passed 100 million units sold worldwide as of June 25, 2025, across 28 years since the original game debuted in 1997. That is a franchise-wide unit-sales figure; it is not a measure of Yamauchi’s income, compensation, ownership, or net worth.
Without disclosed information about the financial terms behind the series and Yamauchi’s personal assets and liabilities, sales cannot be converted into a credible personal-wealth estimate. The official Gran Turismo site also reports that Yamauchi ranked fourth in Esquire UK’s 2010 “Man at the Top Awards”; an award ranking is not financial evidence.
