It does not confirm that Roger Federer ranked above them, or that Virat Kohli was the only Indian in a particular top 100. Those claims need the specific Forbes edition they refer to: athlete earnings rankings cover a defined period, and different editions cannot be treated as the same list.
What Forbes’ 2024 ranking says
Forbes Australia’s 2024 report on the world’s 10 highest-paid athletes places Cristiano Ronaldo first, with estimated total earnings of $260 million, and Lionel Messi third, with $135 million. The amounts are reported estimates of earnings, not audited personal accounts or measures of net worth.
The report says every athlete in its top 10 earned more than $100 million, a first in the history of Forbes’ data. Lamar Jackson placed among them with an estimated $100.5 million.
What period does “2024” cover?
The year in a ranking’s title identifies the edition; it does not necessarily mean the figures cover that calendar year. Forbes says this edition measured income collected from May 1, 2023, to May 1, 2024. A comparison with another year’s list is meaningful only when the editions and measurement periods are clear.

Does this report show Federer ahead of Messi and Ronaldo?
No. Roger Federer is not listed as a contender above Messi or Ronaldo in the reviewed 2024 top 10. That report therefore does not support the headline’s Federer comparison. The claim may refer to another edition or ranking, but the available report does not identify which one.
Was Kohli the only Indian in the top 100?
The reviewed sources do not establish Virat Kohli’s exact placement or earnings, or whether he was the sole Indian in the top 100 meant by the headline. The BBC’s report on Forbes’ list summarizes Ronaldo’s position but does not verify those specific Kohli claims: BBC Sport’s coverage of the Forbes ranking.
