In a rally reported in January 2026, Pakistan’s KSE-100 closed at 189,167 points after gaining 4,068 points, or 2.2%, over the week. It was the index’s second consecutive week of record highs, but trading was mixed rather than steadily upward. This is a historical market report, not a statement of the index’s current level.

How the KSE-100 traded during the reported week

TechJuice reported the daily sequence below. Express Tribune’s January 25, 2026 report independently corroborated the 189,167 close and 4,068-point weekly gain, but the exact covered week and the TechJuice article’s publication date remain unclear because its displayed age metadata conflicts with the timeline in the article.

Session Reported close Reported daily move
Monday 187,762 +1.44%
Tuesday 188,622 +0.46%
Wednesday 187,003 -0.84%
Friday 189,167 +0.79%

The Wednesday decline interrupted the advance before the index recovered by Friday. The reported weekly gain was 4,068 points, equivalent to 2.2%.

What the reports said was supporting sentiment

The coverage associated the rally with easing geopolitical tensions, fresh liquidity in the financial system and expectations of further monetary easing after Treasury-bill yields returned to single digits. These are explanations reported alongside the market move, not proof that any one factor caused it.

TechJuice quoted Syed Danyal Hussain, identified as an analyst at JS Global: “Cut-offs declined by 16-31 basis points across maturities, strengthening expectations of further policy rate easing.”

Economic figures cited alongside the rally

TechJuice also cited the following figures as context. The source’s original statistical publishers were not identified in the coverage reviewed, so these should be read as figures reported by that article rather than independently verified official data.

  • Power generation reportedly rose 8.8% year over year to 8,487 GWh in December; the year was given as 2025.
  • Pakistan’s current-account balance was reported as a $244 million deficit in December 2025.
  • Net foreign direct investment inflows were reported at $808 million in the first half of FY26, down 43% year over year.
  • The rupee was reported to have closed at Rs279.86 per US dollar; the market commentary’s reporting period is unclear.

How this rally differs from the July 2025 episode

A separate KSE-100 rally reported by Nukta for the second week of July 2025 ended at a substantially lower index level. It should not be confused with the January 2026 episode.

Episode Reported close Weekly gain Additional reported context
Second week of July 2025 134,299 2,351 points (2%) Commercial banks contributed 1,329 points; cement 304; auto assemblers 150; textiles 147; and pharmaceuticals 124. The report also cited FY25 remittances of $38.3 billion and expectations of lower interest rates.
January 2026 report 189,167 4,068 points (2.2%) The coverage cited geopolitical easing, liquidity and expectations of lower rates as supportive sentiment factors; sector contributions were not stated.

The sector contributions and macroeconomic context in the first row belong to the July 2025 report, not the later record-high episode.

What investors can and cannot infer

A record close and a strong weekly percentage gain describe past index performance; they do not establish that prices will keep rising or that any individual stock is attractive. The reports describe market commentary and selected economic indicators, but do not establish a verified causal link between those indicators and the index’s move. They also do not provide enough information to assess a particular investor’s risk, time horizon or portfolio.
