To look for the authoritative document, start at JKPSC’s official website and verify that the notice or attached PDF is the final key—not an old provisional copy or an unverified mirror.
Where to look for the 2021 answer key
- Open jkpsc.nic.in.
- Look for the notice titled “Conduct of Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination , 2021 Provisional Answer Key,” or a later notice identifying the final official key.
- Check the document date and status before using it. The final-key notification is dated 13 November 2021; the provisional key was uploaded on 25 October 2021 at noon, according to JKPSC’s later notification.
A release-day report linked to the provisional PDF, but that historical direct-file link could not be verified as working. Use the commission’s site rather than assuming an old direct link remains live. A copy hosted elsewhere, including the inspected Scribd upload, is a mirror and should not be treated as the authoritative final key.
Provisional key versus final official key
| Document | Publication stage | Objections considered? | Source status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Provisional answer key | Released 25 October 2021, at noon according to JKPSC’s later notification. | No; it was the initial key and candidates could submit objections during the historical objection window. | JKPSC’s initial document; copies found on third-party sites are mirrors. |
| Final official answer key | Issued by JKPSC notification PSC/Exam/2021/59 on 13 November 2021. | Yes. JKPSC said objections were referred to an expert committee and recommended changes were adopted. | JKPSC’s official final-key notification is controlling; verify the document on the commission’s website. |
JKPSC stated: “The changes recommended by the Committee of Experts are hereby adopted and the Final Official Key is annexed as Annexure “A” to this notification.” If you are reviewing your historical answers, the final key—not the provisional version—is the relevant one.
Exam and objection timeline
- 24 October 2021: JKPSC conducted the CCE Preliminary Examination in two sessions. The provisional key covered General Studies-I and General Studies-II and included answer tables for booklet series A, B, C and D.
- 25 October 2021, noon: JKPSC’s later notification says the provisional official key was uploaded.
- Objections: JKPSC’s final notification says the original deadline was 27 October 2021 at 5:00 PM. Scroll’s release-day report instead gave 28 October 2021 at 5:00 PM. The sources conflict on the date; both describe a historical process that has closed.
- 13 November 2021: JKPSC published Notification PSC/Exam/2021/59, recording the expert review and adoption of the final official key.
Scroll quoted the notice’s historical objection instructions as requiring a prescribed form, documentary proof and a demand draft of Rs. 500 per question, refundable for a genuine or correct representation. Those instructions applied to the 2021 objection period only; they are not a current route for challenging the key.

What the key covered—and what not to rely on
The provisional document covered both General Studies-I and General Studies-II, with answers organized by booklet series A, B, C and D. The readable copy inspected for those tables was user-uploaded, and its OCR may be imperfect. Do not rely on an unofficial transcription or mirror to settle a disputed answer; locate and check the official JKPSC document. The final notification says the final key was attached as Annexure A, but its PDF should be verified directly on the commission’s site.
Scroll reported in October 2021 that the examination was being held to fill 187 vacancies across administrative, police and accounts services. That is a historical figure reported at the time, not a current vacancy count.
