Yes. USPS Post Office locations will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026, for Columbus Day. Regular mail delivery and retail services are scheduled to resume Tuesday, October 13, according to USPS’s October 6, 2026 announcement.
What closes on Monday, October 12?
Columbus Day falls on Monday, October 12, 2026, on the USPS 2026 holidays and events schedule. USPS says all Post Office locations will be closed, and regular mail delivery and retail services will not operate as usual that day.
USPS’s 2026 notice says regular mail delivery and retail services resume Tuesday, October 13. It does not specify whether Priority Mail Express will be delivered on the holiday. A USPS notice for Columbus Day 2025 said only Priority Mail Express items would be delivered that day; that prior-year policy is not confirmation of the 2026 schedule.
What can you do while Post Offices are closed?
Use USPS.com for listed services
USPS says customers can use USPS.com during the closure to order stamps and free USPS boxes, access Hold Mail and Change of Address, manage PO Box rental or renewal, and use Click-N-Ship to print prepaid labels. These online options do not mean retail counters are open.

Check whether a self-service kiosk is accessible
Self-service kiosks are available in select Post Office lobbies. USPS lists postage printing, stamp purchases, package weighing and mailing, and tracking among their functions. Many are available 24/7, but lobby access depends on the location. Check the specific Post Office location before traveling.
When do regular services resume?
USPS says regular mail delivery and retail services resume Tuesday, October 13, 2026. For an item that may require holiday delivery, check the current service details for that specific mailing rather than assuming the 2025 Priority Mail Express exception applies in 2026.
