It sells a changing assortment of luggage, clothing, electronics, jewelry and other goods the company says it acquires after transportation providers’ efforts to reunite items with their owners. It is a place to shop—not a place to report or recover a bag that is currently missing.
Where lost luggage goes—and what this store does
Unclaimed Baggage says it buys unclaimed bags and their contents after carriers have tried to return them to travelers. The company says its merchandise comes primarily from commercial airlines, but may also come through buses, trains, trucks, hospitality and other transportation sources; some unclaimed cargo is included as well. That is the retailer’s description of its sourcing, not an independently verified account of every item’s chain of custody. No individual suitcase’s destination is guaranteed: not all lost luggage ends up at this store.
The company says incoming goods are sorted for resale, donation, repurposing, recycling or disposal. It also says clothing offered for sale is professionally cleaned and electronics are tested, with personal data erased under NIST standards. These are company statements; they do not establish that every item has been independently inspected or that every item is in the same condition.
What you can shop for
The assortment changes, so a department or example is not a promise that a particular item, brand, size, price or condition will be available. The store’s visitor page lists departments including luggage, electronics and cameras, men’s and women’s clothing, sporting goods, jewelry and luxury goods, footwear, books, and formal wear. The company also says it sells items such as golf clubs and some unclaimed cargo.

In-person and online selection are not identical. The company says its online shop carries only a portion of the assortment available in the physical store, so browsing online cannot confirm what will be on the shelves during a visit. The retailer also describes its Scottsboro location as a 50,000-square-foot store with a bargain basement, a café and a daily “Baggage Experience,” in which one visitor may sort through a fresh bag. Check the official visitor page before making plans around a particular attraction or experience.
Can the store find your missing suitcase?
No. Unclaimed Baggage says it cannot reunite visitors with currently missing bags. According to the company’s FAQ, carrier recovery efforts and the claims process come before items reach the retailer, and identifying information has been removed by then. If your bag is missing now, contact the airline or other carrier directly and follow its lost-baggage claim process; visiting the resale store is not a substitute.

How unsold items are handled
The company says not everything is put up for sale: goods may instead be donated, repurposed, recycled or discarded. In a company-published article, it says that, on average, another item is donated for every item sold. That is the retailer’s own claim, not an independently audited impact measure. Its article answering common questions also says online inventory represents only part of the in-store assortment.
