Which Julia Roberts movie made the most money at the box office? In The Numbers’ worldwide-gross figures, Ocean’s Eleven ranks first, just ahead of Pretty Woman. These are reported ticket-sales totals—not net profit: the available figures do not account for production and marketing costs, distribution terms, exhibitors’ shares, or participant payments.
Julia Roberts’ highest-grossing movies
The ranking below uses worldwide box-office totals reported in The Numbers’ Julia Roberts filmography, checked October 8, 2026. It ranks reported gross receipts, not the amount a studio or Roberts personally earned.
| Rank | Film | Worldwide box-office gross |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ocean’s Eleven (2001) | $450,717,150 |
| 2 | Pretty Woman (1990) | $432,566,361 |
| 3 | Notting Hill (1999) | $363,713,167 |
| 4 | My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) | $298,923,419 |
| 5 | Erin Brockovich (2000) | $257,805,243 |
The Numbers’ Julia Roberts box-office filmography is the source for all five totals. The database’s figures can change; they should be read as reported worldwide totals rather than immutable final receipts.
What “most profitable” means here—and what it does not
Box-office gross is the money paid for tickets, not a film’s profit. A profit calculation would need comparable information on production and marketing costs, distribution arrangements, the share retained by cinemas, and payments to talent or other participants. The cited box-office records do not supply those inputs, so they cannot show which film earned the most net profit or how much Roberts made from any of them.

Guinness World Records’ historical entry names Pretty Woman as Roberts’s top-grossing film, with a reported US$463.4 million. It lists Notting Hill at US$363.1 million, My Best Friend’s Wedding at US$298.9 million, Erin Brockovich at US$256.6 million, and Ocean’s Eleven at US$238.8 million. The entry is historical, and the available records do not establish exactly why its totals differ from The Numbers’ figures.
Because the sources disagree, their figures should not be mixed into one ranking. The table uses The Numbers consistently; Guinness is a separate historical comparison, not a correction to that table. Totals may depend on when and how a source records a film’s receipts, and the available information does not resolve the difference.

How to read the ranking
- Metric: worldwide box-office gross, not domestic-only receipts, net profit, or an actor’s compensation.
- Source and date: The Numbers’ filmography, accessed October 8, 2026; its current-page totals may change.
- Scope: the five leading totals in the cited filmography, across Roberts’ credited films; the figures do not separate lead, supporting, or ensemble roles.
- Rereleases: the cited records do not specify here how rerelease receipts are treated, so no separate rerelease adjustment is made.
