Why the “ninth airline” claim needs qualification
On February 19, 2026, London Gatwick said it expected 62 airlines and more than 230 destinations for summer, including eight new arrivals. The airport named Jet2, AirAsia X, Condor, Air Arabia, Air France, Eurowings, Animawings and Beijing Capital Airlines. Gatwick’s February announcement did not include Pegasus in that list.
Pegasus announced its Gatwick service on June 16, saying flights had started the previous day, June 15. That later service may explain a “ninth” count when the announcements are read together. But Pegasus’s announcement is not an explicit confirmation from Gatwick that it had added or counted a ninth new airline. The safest description is that Pegasus was a later announced Gatwick carrier, not an officially confirmed ninth arrival.
What Pegasus announced about its Gatwick flights
Pegasus said its London Gatwick–Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen service would operate daily throughout the summer 2026 season. Its June 16 announcement listed PC1185 departing Istanbul at 11:55 local time and arriving at Gatwick at 14:15, with PC1186 departing Gatwick at 15:20 and arriving in Istanbul at 21:15. These are announcement-time schedule details, not a guarantee of current operations. Check the airline’s current booking information before planning a trip.

Pegasus said one-way fares started at £54.99 including taxes, available through its website, app and authorised sales channels. That was the launch fare reported in the June announcement, not a current quote or a promise that seats remain at that price. The airline also described onward connections from Istanbul to 160 destinations in 56 countries; this is Pegasus’s stated network figure, not a measure of how many Gatwick destinations it serves. These are routes and frequencies in Gatwick’s February announcement, not a confirmation that every service is operating as originally scheduled now. The release also quoted Gatwick’s Head of Aviation Development, Jonny Macneal, describing Emirates’ fourth daily flight as a strong start to the summer; that statement concerns Emirates, not the count of new airlines.
What Gatwick said about Jet2’s new base
Gatwick reported that Jet2’s first flights from its new base took off on March 26, 2026. The airport said Jet2 planned 29 summer routes using six Airbus A321neo aircraft, and that the base had created more than 300 local jobs. These figures are attributed to Gatwick’s report, rather than independently verified employment or fleet totals. Gatwick’s newsroom published the update.

What travelers should check before booking
Network announcements describe planned services; they do not tell you whether a particular flight is still available, what it costs today or which fare conditions apply. Compare the live fare, schedule, journey duration and baggage or change rules for your dates. Gatwick’s airline directory currently lists Pegasus at the South Terminal, but terminal allocations can change, so verify your departure terminal with the airline and airport before traveling.
