Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, Inc. (Life EV) completed its court-approved purchase of selected Rad Power Bikes assets on February 27, 2026. The often-quoted $13.2 million figure is the cash consideration; Bicycle Retailer and Industry News reported a total purchase price of $14,926,706 after accounting for liabilities. This was an asset acquisition through Rad Power Bikes’ Chapter 11 case—not a purchase of the former operating company in its entirety.
What happened, and when did the sale close?
Life EV acquired core Rad Power Bikes assets through a court-approved Section 363 sale in February 2026. Its SEC offering statement says the transaction closed on February 27, following a sale order dated January 30 and an asset purchase agreement dated January 22. Life EV’s SEC offering statement describes approximately $14.9 million in aggregate consideration, including consideration and specified assumed obligations.
March 6 coverage by Bicycle Retailer and Industry News reported the deal as completed. That later status matters: headlines describing a deal to sell Rad reflected the pending-sale stage in January, not the final outcome.
Why do reports say both $13.2 million and $14.9 million?
The figures use different price bases. Bicycle Retailer and Industry News reported $13,276,102 in cash and a $14,926,706 total purchase price after accounting for liabilities. Life EV’s SEC filing rounded aggregate consideration to approximately $14.9 million.

So the $13.2 million headline is not the reported all-in amount. The difference does not mean Life EV bought every obligation of the former Rad business: the purchase covered selected assets and only specified assumed obligations.
What did Life EV acquire?
Life EV’s SEC filing identifies the acquired assets as the Rad Power Bikes brand and intellectual property, inventory and operating infrastructure, and the digital ecosystem and customer database. The filing reports approximately 1.5 million current and historical customers and approximately $1.2 billion in cumulative historical sales data. These are company-reported figures about the prior Rad business, not independently verified measures of Life EV’s results or current performance.
An asset sale transfers the items identified in the sale documents; it does not, by itself, transfer the seller as a continuing company or every historic liability. The transaction should therefore be described as Life EV’s acquisition of core Rad assets through Chapter 11, rather than as Life EV buying the former operating company wholesale.
What did Life EV say would happen to Rad customers and U.S. retail?
Life EV said it would continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes brand and planned to expand the retail footprint in selected markets. It also said it intended to support customers through post-closing programs, including honoring certain warranties and gift cards as set out in the asset purchase agreement. Those statements do not establish that every warranty or gift card was assumed, or that all former-company customer obligations transferred.

For a customer with a specific warranty, gift card, repair, or account question, the relevant question is whether that item falls within the purchase agreement’s stated commitments. The available transaction descriptions do not establish whether every historic customer account remains usable or set out broader customer-service terms.

Life EV described U.S.-based assembly through affiliated manufacturing and a Foreign Trade Zone structure as part of its plan. The company presented possible improvements to supply-chain efficiency, costs, quality, and unit economics as expectations, not achieved outcomes. Its SEC filing also identifies execution, integration, facility ramp-up, liquidity, and other risks that could affect those plans.
The filing places Rad within a broader multi-brand, multi-channel e-bike strategy. It says the portfolio includes the core Rad assets, specified QuietKat assets acquired in June 2026, and an exclusive worldwide direct-reseller relationship for Serial 1 electric bicycles beginning June 1, 2026. Historical Rad sales and customer data cited in the filing belong to the prior Rad business; Life EV cautions that they are not Rad Life results and do not guarantee future performance.
