A Mandurah man in his 30s claimed a $146,943 Super66 prize with less than five weeks remaining to claim it, after a routine trip to the chemist finally prompted him to check a ticket he had left on his fridge. Lotterywest reported the win on 17 December 2024.
Why the ticket went unchecked
The winner told Lotterywest he had repeatedly put off checking the ticket, saying: “I just kept thinking, I’ll check it next month, and then the next month would come, and I’d think the same thing again.” The ticket was from 13 January and had been left on his fridge. A routine trip to the chemist was the prompt that led him to check it.
After discovering the win, he said: “I couldn’t believe it when I finally checked, not only did I win, but I claimed my prize just in time!” He told Lotterywest he planned to put the money toward his house.
How long Lotterywest gives winners to claim
Lotterywest says players have 12 months from the draw date to claim prizes. The Mandurah winner came forward with less than five weeks left in that period. Lotterywest did not state an exact expiry date for this ticket.

Lotterywest’s advice for ticket holders
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender advised players to check tickets regularly and register them to a Lotterywest membership. She said registration lets Lotterywest contact a member with a winning ticket. The advice is a practical way to reduce the risk of overlooking a prize while a claim period is running.
