Coverage published on November 16, 2020, by PocketGamer.biz and TheWrap, and on November 17 by GamesBeat, reported that Lila Games raised $2.8 million in seed financing. Bitkraft Ventures led the round. Galaxy Interactive and angel investors Mike Sherrill, Kristian Segerstrale, and Ludovic Bodin were also named as participants.
This was startup financing for the company, not a consumer investment opportunity or a public offering. The reports described the round as funding for Lila Games’ studio and game development.
What was Project B.L.A.C.K.?
Project B.L.A.C.K. was the working title used in 2020 coverage for Lila Games’ planned free-to-play mobile shooter. The studio said the financing would support hiring and development. Its stated aim was to make a distinct kind of mobile shooter, with deeper social interaction; those were ambitions at the time, not confirmation of features in a released game.

In a November 17, 2020, GamesBeat interview, CEO Joseph Kim described the goal as creating “a very ambitious and different kind of shooter game.” Kim also said the company was “betting on India” but not targeting the Indian market, describing an aim to make a global product while benefiting from India’s cost structure. These remarks explain the studio’s stated strategy, but do not demonstrate how the finished game performed or where it was released.
Who founded Lila Games?
Contemporary reporting named Joseph Kim, Paul Leydon, and Avinash Pandey as the founders. GamesBeat described Kim’s prior experience at Sega and FunPlus, Leydon’s game-design work, and Pandey’s development experience, including work on Mask Gun. How did Lila Games’ funding develop after the seed round?
On March 16, 2022, Moneycontrol reported that Lila Games announced a $10 million Series A led by Rainfall Ventures. Bitkraft Ventures, Galaxy Interactive, Sequoia Capital, and Krafton also participated, along with named angel investors. Moneycontrol said the proceeds would support development of the studio’s first title and its Bengaluru-based team.
The Series A is evidence of a later financing announcement, not proof that Project B.L.A.C.K. shipped. The reporting available here does not establish whether the game launched, was renamed, or was cancelled.
