That is not the longest later-reported run in the available announcements: General Motors said a Chevrolet Silverado EV covered 1,059.2 miles in a separate engineering test the following month. The two manufacturer-reported results used different vehicles and conditions, so they are not a controlled comparison.
What was Lucid’s 749-mile record?
Lucid announced that its Air Grand Touring covered 1,205 km (approximately 749 miles) from St. Moritz to Munich on a single charge. The route crossed alpine roads, highways and secondary roads. Lucid said the drive earned a Guinness World Records title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. Lucid’s July 8, 2025 announcement is the source for the distance and title claim.
The announcement also cites a previous distance of 1,045 km; Lucid said its drive exceeded that figure by 160 km. The result describes one particular journey, not the distance an owner should expect in ordinary driving. Lucid notes that range and consumption can be affected by aftermarket equipment, weather, traffic and driving behavior.
How does Lucid’s result compare with the later Silverado run?
On August 5, 2025, GM reported that a production 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck traveled 1,059.2 miles on a full charge in an engineering range test. That is farther than Lucid’s 749-mile result, but GM’s reported run was a different test, in a different vehicle class, under separately described conditions. GM said its test broke Lucid’s distance; the GM announcements do not establish that the Silverado received the same Guinness title.

| Claim | Lucid Air Grand Touring | Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck |
|---|---|---|
| Reported distance | 1,205 km (about 749 miles), announced by Lucid in July 2025 | 1,059.2 miles, reported by GM in August 2025 |
| Purpose and title | Lucid said the journey earned a Guinness World Records title for longest journey by an electric car on one charge | GM described an engineering range test and said it broke Lucid’s distance; the cited reports do not claim the same Guinness title |
| Route and terrain | St. Moritz to Munich; alpine roads, highways and secondary roads | Michigan public roads; GM describes a week-long test, but the cited announcement does not give a comparable route trace |
| Speed and driving approach | Average speed and detailed driving telemetry not stated in Lucid’s announcement | GM reported a 20–25 mph target when safe |
| Vehicle rating | Lucid-published WLTP combined range: 817–960 km | GM-stated EPA-estimated range: up to 493 miles for the 2026 truck |
GM’s distance was not the Silverado’s EPA range rating. GM described an engineering test in which drivers aimed to extend distance; the company-reported test figure and the vehicle’s EPA estimate answer different questions. GM’s August 5, 2025 report gives the test account, while a September 29, 2025 GM follow-up says 35 employees took shifts over a week.
What conditions shaped GM’s longer test?
GM reported a 20–25 mph target speed when safe, climate control switched off, tire pressure kept at a high acceptable level, optimized alignment and an accessory tonneau cover. The spare tire was removed, and there were no passengers for most of the test. GM also described summer weather and said employees drove in shifts over a week on public roads. These are details of GM’s Silverado test only; Lucid’s announcement does not report equivalent settings.
GM propulsion calibration engineering manager Jon Doremus said: “If we drove it downhill the whole time, sure, we’d get insane mileage. But that’s not what this was about. We wanted this to be real, on public roads.” The quote and its context refer to GM’s later test, not Lucid’s route.
What do the Air’s published specifications tell you?
Lucid’s announcement lists the Air Grand Touring at 611 kW (831 PS), with a WLTP combined range band of 817–960 km and energy consumption of 16.0–13.5 kWh/100 km. These are manufacturer-published specifications using the WLTP cycle; they are not EPA ratings and are not the measured distance of the record drive. The record result should therefore not be read as a revised rated range or a typical owner outcome.

How certain is the record comparison?
The announcements establish what Lucid and GM reported, but they do not provide matching test protocols. Lucid reports the route categories and Guinness title claim, but its cited release does not give average speed, elapsed time or detailed telemetry. GM provides more information about speed, vehicle setup and staffing. Because the vehicles, purposes and conditions differ, the distances do not show how the cars would compare in the same test. The cited announcements also do not independently establish the current Guinness database holder after GM’s later claim.
