Partly. LG makes washing machines at its Clarksville, Tennessee, factory, but that does not establish that every LG appliance—or every LG washer model—is made in the United States. For a specific unit, check its country-of-origin marking or current manufacturer documentation.
What LG makes at its Tennessee factory
LG announced a planned 829,000-square-foot home-appliance manufacturing facility near Clarksville in 2017. That announcement describes the planned facility, not the origin of every product the company sells. LG’s 2017 announcement and a Tennessee state announcement document the investment.
The U.S. International Trade Commission says LG began producing large residential washers at the Clarksville plant in late 2018. In 2020, LG reported that the factory had produced its one-millionth washing machine. That is a company-reported cumulative milestone, not a current annual production figure or a count of all LG appliances made in America. See the USITC report and LG’s milestone announcement.
This evidence supports a specific conclusion: LG produces some washing machines in the United States. It does not identify the origin of every current washer model, or establish where LG refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, or other appliance models are made.

Does a U.S. factory make an appliance “Made in the USA”?
Not by itself. The Federal Trade Commission’s standard for an unqualified “Made in USA” claim is that a product is “all or virtually all” made in the United States. The FTC says the product must be assembled here, all significant processing must take place here, and all or virtually all components must be of U.S. origin. Read the FTC’s Enforcement Policy Statement on U.S. Origin Claims and its business guidance, Complying with the Made in USA Standard.
A claim about a particular U.S. process or part is different from a claim about the whole appliance. The FTC permits a specific, truthful, substantiated claim when consumers would understand it to refer to that process or part—not to imply that the entire product is generally made in the United States. The FTC’s consumer guidance explains the standard.

How to check the origin of a specific LG appliance
- Identify the exact model and unit. A brand-level statement about a factory does not establish the origin of a particular appliance.
- Look for the country-of-origin marking. Check the appliance’s label and packaging, where available.
- Consult current manufacturer documentation. If the marking is missing or unclear, ask LG about the specific model and unit rather than relying on general factory information.
- Read the wording precisely. A statement that a washer is assembled or manufactured in Tennessee is not automatically the same as an unqualified claim that the whole product is Made in USA under the FTC standard.
The available sources do not provide an exhaustive, current model-by-model list of LG appliance manufacturing countries or domestic-content percentages for current models. Verify the individual unit before making a purchase based on its country of origin.
