Loupe This is an online auction platform for collectible wristwatches. Buyers bid on listed watches and pay the winning price plus a 10% buyer fee and other applicable costs; sellers submit watches for consideration and, if accepted, consign them for auction. The platform describes its own vetting, custody, payment, shipping, and counterfeit-guarantee procedures, but buyers and sellers should check the live listing, invoice, submission terms, and Conditions of Sale before committing.
What is Loupe This?
Loupe This describes itself as a community-driven online auction house for buying and selling exceptional wristwatches. The company says collectors and experts Eric Ku and Justin Gruenberg founded it in 2021. Its stated process includes selecting, inspecting, photographing, cataloging, and holding watches while they are auctioned, with the sale managed internally. Loupe This About
These are the platform’s descriptions of its service, not independent verification of each watch or transaction. A listing’s specific condition, provenance, and other details remain important when deciding whether to bid.
How buying and bidding work
Before you bid
To participate, create or sign in to a membership account, set up payment information, and place a bid. Loupe This says bidders can bid at the minimum increment or enter a “Max Bid,” allowing the system to bid up to a ceiling they choose. Listings have a comments section for member observations and questions; the platform says the highest bidder wins. Loupe This How It Works

How the Two Minute Rule changes closing time
If a bid arrives during the final two minutes, Loupe This adds two minutes to the auction. The auction closes after two minutes pass without another bid. The platform describes the rule with the rationale, “At Loupe This, we believe that the clock stops when the bidding stops.” This means the displayed closing time can move when bidding continues near the end.
What a buyer pays
Loupe This’ How It Works page states that the buyer fee is 10% of the hammer price. The amount due can also include shipping, insurance, and taxes the platform is required to collect; depending on the shipping address, a buyer may owe additional taxes or duties.

How consigning a watch works
Submission, acceptance, and listing
Loupe This’ FAQ says a watch must meet its quality standards for the company to proceed. If it does, the company arranges for the watch to be delivered to its team, which documents it and prepares a listing with photography, a description, and details about what makes it special. The FAQ says the seller is paid after the transaction, less the listing fee. Loupe This FAQ

The About page characterizes the seller charge as a one-off consignment fee, but the official pages reviewed do not establish a stable fee amount. Check the live submission terms for the current charge rather than relying on an old figure. Before sending a watch, also clarify the reserve arrangement, transport responsibilities, what happens if the lot does not sell or is withdrawn, and the payout process.
Seller payment timing
Loupe This says it aims to pay sellers within 30 days of receiving a watch. Its FAQ contrasts that aim with a traditional auction-house transaction that could take over 90 days. Both figures are the company’s own statements, not independently measured performance statistics or a guaranteed payout deadline. Ask how the timing applies to your particular consignment and transaction.

Vetting, custody, and delivery
Loupe This says every listed watch is vetted by its team and that watches remain in the company’s possession during the sale. Its FAQ says the watch is shipped fully insured to the buyer’s chosen destination after payment. These describe the platform’s stated procedures; they are not an independent audit or a guarantee that every delivery will be trouble-free. Review the listing and terms for the specific watch, and confirm shipping arrangements for your destination.
What the counterfeit guarantee covers
The Conditions of Sale state that Loupe This guarantees items against counterfeit status as defined in those terms. The stated period is four years from the auction closing day. If the terms’ conditions are met, the described remedy is cancellation of the sale and a refund of the purchase price received. The scope depends on the document’s definition, eligibility requirements, and conditions; it should not be read as an unconditional or transferable warranty. Read the current wording at Loupe This Conditions of Sale before relying on it.

- Confirm payment timing and methods, then review the applicable Conditions of Sale and counterfeit-guarantee terms.
- Account for the Two Minute Rule when deciding when to bid; a late bid can extend the close.

- Ask about reserve terms, shipping to the platform, insurance and custody, and what happens if a lot is unsold or withdrawn.
- Clarify the payout calculation and expected timing for your watch and transaction.
A watchmaker’s loupe can help a collector inspect visible details, but it cannot authenticate a watch. It is an optional viewing aid, not a Loupe This authentication tool or stated recommendation.
