What facility did Progressive open in Colorado?
Data Center Dynamics reported on August 3, 2006, that Progressive had completed a two-building data center and document production project in Colorado Springs. The trade publication gave the project’s size as 175,000 square feet and said groundbreaking took place in June 2005. Data Center Dynamics’ 2006 report is the source for those project details.
Progressive’s 2008 Financial Review says the company constructed a data center, printing center and related facilities in Colorado Springs during 2006. It reports a combined cost of $64.2 million for those facilities; that figure is not a cost for the data center alone.
Why did Progressive build it?
The 2006 report said Progressive expected to install systems over the following months to support uninterrupted service for insured drivers and independent agencies. That describes the company’s stated purpose at the time, not a verified measure of the facility’s later performance.

What is known about the facility’s later and current status?
A 2009 Gazette interview described a Colorado Springs center with hundreds of computers supporting Progressive’s website, call centers and other operations, and discussed the company’s data-center capacity in Colorado Springs and Ohio. This is historical reporting, not evidence of the building’s present use. The Gazette’s 2009 interview provides that context.
Progressive currently describes its Colorado Springs location at 12710 Voyager Parkway as one of its largest technology hubs, with IT, call center and claims employees. Its current Colorado Springs location page establishes a present local technology presence, but does not say that the 2006 data-center building is still operating or that it is the same site.
