The Territorial Army Officer recruitment application window for the 2026 cycle has closed. The notice set the last application date as 19 May 2026 and the computer-based examination date as 12 July 2026; both dates have passed. Check the official Territorial Army website for any later notice rather than relying on old application details.
What Territorial Army Officer recruitment is
The civilian Territorial Army Commission Officer entry is for gainfully employed citizens who want to serve in a military environment alongside their primary profession. It is not conventional full-time Army recruitment. The Territorial Army Directorate described the opportunity as enabling citizens to serve without giving up their primary professions in its TAC 2026 recruitment notice.
Territorial Army Officer eligibility in the 2026 notice
These conditions applied to the TAC 2026 cycle and should not be assumed to carry over to a future recruitment notice.
- Citizenship: Indian citizen, male or female.
- Age: 18 to 42 years on the last application date, 19 May 2026.
- Education: Graduate degree from a recognized university.
- Fitness: Physically and medically fit.
- Employment: Gainfully employed. The notice included government and private-sector employment, self-employment, and running one’s own business.
The notice excluded serving members of the Regular Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, General Reserve Engineer Force, paramilitary forces, and like forces. Check any new notice for its exact eligibility rules.

The 2026 application period ran from 20 April 2026 at 10:00 AM through 19 May 2026 at 11:55 PM, according to the official TAC application portal and the Directorate notice. The portal is useful as a cycle reference, but its dates and instructions do not establish the process for a later recruitment.
For that cycle, candidates applied online, provided an active email address and mobile number, selected three examination-centre preferences, and were advised to keep a copy of the completed form. The notice specified a non-refundable examination fee of ₹500, payable using the modes prescribed on the website. These are TAC 2026 details, not guaranteed terms for another cycle.
Selection date and what to do now
The 2026 notice listed a computer-based entrance examination for 12 July 2026. That date has passed, so a new applicant should wait for and follow a later official notification. Check the Territorial Army website for new application dates, eligibility, examination details, fees, and instructions before acting; do not use an earlier cycle’s deadline or fee as current.
