CYAN is a 48.7-metre Codecasa motor yacht built in 1997 and associated in published accounts with Bono. The available reporting does not verify that he is its current sole legal owner, and public estimates of the yacht’s value conflict. Here’s what is documented about its history, onboard features and published charter rates.
What is CYAN, and what is its connection to Bono?
CYAN is an Italian-built motor yacht from shipyard Codecasa. Broker Burgess lists it at 48.7 metres (159.9 feet), built in 1997, with a refit recorded in 2021. Burgess’s yacht listing provides the published specifications and charter information.
Denison Yacht Sales reports that Bono bought CYAN in 2008 after chartering it with his family the previous summer. A design feature hosted on CYAN’s website and attributed to Architectural Digest describes three longtime-friend families as the buyers. These accounts do not establish current sole ownership: the sources available here include neither a current registry extract nor direct confirmation of beneficial ownership.
The yacht-hosted feature says the name CYAN comes from the Greek word for dark blue. It credits interior designer Nina Seirafi and says Monaco-based marine architect Espen Øino was hired to add a top-deck gym. The feature describes a change from an all-white exterior to a white upper section with a charcoal hull, as well as silver-tinted oak and subtle Africa-inspired interior details. It was posted in 2018, so it is a design account rather than a current technical survey.

|---|---|---|
| $12 million | Estimated value | CelebYachts, accessed in 2026; the page does not date the estimate and says its ownership reporting is not certified. |
| £16 million | Reported purchase price in 2008 | Yacht.com, in an account published approximately 2025; this is a reported historical price, not a current valuation. |
| Above £26 million | Later estimated value | Yacht.com, approximately 2025; the account does not provide an appraisal methodology or transaction document. |
The reported £16 million purchase price and the estimates are different kinds of figures, published by different sources and without a documented valuation method. They should not be treated as proof of CYAN’s current market value. Yacht.com also reports that Bono and The Edge co-own it, but that claim is not corroborated by CYAN’s hosted feature describing three families as buyers.
