What was the IRCTC Shubh Yatra scheme?
Shubh Yatra, also referred to as SOFT (Shubh Yatra scheme for frequent travellers), was a membership programme managed through the IRCTC website. A Times of India report published on July 7, 2011, described it as a paid scheme that awarded Railway Points on eligible ticket purchases. The figures below are historical reported terms, not current offers.

The 2011 report said eligibility covered classes except AC 3-tier, and that the member had to be among the passengers on a family or party booking. A later Scroll explainer also discusses historical mechanics, including redemption conditions and expiry. These accounts describe the scheme as it was reported at the time; they do not establish its present status or terms.
Is Shubh Yatra still available?
IRCTC’s reviewed official material does not provide a formal closure date for the original Shubh Yatra scheme, nor does it confirm that new memberships can be purchased. An entry in the IRCTC mobile FAQ says Shubh Yatra is not available on mobile and directs readers to the IRCTC website. That mobile-specific wording does not confirm that the old membership remains open.

IRCTC’s current loyalty page describes a different, card-linked arrangement. Do not use the old membership price, seasonal point rates or redemption threshold to estimate what a traveller can earn today.
How does IRCTC loyalty work now?
IRCTC describes loyalty partnerships involving SBI Cards, BOBCard, HDFC and RBL Bank. Its overview says eligible cardholders can earn travel points on qualifying IRCTC rail bookings and redeem points for train tickets. Earning depends on conditions including eligible classes, linking the loyalty number, paying with the partner card through specified gateways and completing the journey without cancellation. The overview also describes a 1% waiver on transaction charges for bookings made through the co-branded card, along with station lounge access. Benefits vary by partner card
Do not assume that every partner card provides identical rewards or lounge access. For example, IRCTC’s IRCTC-RBL card page lists features for that particular card. Check the current IRCTC and issuer terms for the specific card before applying or relying on a benefit.
