Who was eligible?
Age limits
For the men’s and women’s technical entries, applicants had to be 20–27 years old on April 1, 2025. The notification set a maximum age of 35 years on that date for widows applying to the specified widow categories. These age limits belong to this course and cutoff date.

Engineering degree and final-year candidates
Applicants needed a qualifying engineering degree in a stream listed in the notification, or could apply while in the final year of an eligible engineering course. This was not an entry for any engineering degree: the discipline and degree nomenclature had to match the Army’s notified requirements, and the notice warned that a mismatch or unlisted stream could result in cancellation.
Final-year applicants also had to meet the applicable cumulative-mark requirements, have no backlogs when applying, and provide proof of passing and the required marksheets by the notification’s deadline. Applicants should consult the original notice for the exact stream-by-stream criteria and document deadlines.

Nationality and marital status
The notice invited eligible unmarried male and female engineering graduates, as well as widows of Indian Armed Forces personnel who died in harness for specified technical and non-technical categories. It defined eligible nationality categories and required a Government of India eligibility certificate for certain applicants. Check the notification for the precise conditions applicable to an individual’s circumstances.

What was the selection process?
- Shortlisting and SSB call: Eligible applicants were considered for the Services Selection Board process under the notification’s criteria.
- Two-stage SSB interview: The selection procedure included two stages and lasted five days. Candidates who did not clear Stage 1 were returned the same day. The notification identified centres including Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru and Jalandhar Cantt; the Army retained discretion over centre allotment.
- Medical examination: Candidates recommended after Stage 2 underwent a medical examination.
- Merit and joining: Candidates recommended by the SSB and found medically fit were considered for joining in merit order, subject to available vacancies and compliance with the remaining eligibility rules.
Training and commission terms
Selected candidates were reported to train for 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. The notification states that successful candidates were granted a Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant from course commencement or from reporting at PCTA, whichever was later. Its detailed service, training and pay provisions control; the notice, rather than a summary report, should be consulted for formal terms.
