What the 2024 headline referred to
PerthNow reported on 12 March 2024 that IKEA Family members could get half-price hot meals at IKEA Australia restaurants every Friday from 11am. Swedish meatballs were among the meals covered. The report also mentioned a $25 voucher after $100 of restaurant spending, but IKEA’s current offer announcement and restaurant information do not confirm that voucher as a current promotion. PerthNow’s 2024 report is evidence of the historical deal, not its present terms.
What IKEA Australia announced for 2026
In an announcement dated 8 September 2026, IKEA Australia described two offers for IKEA Family members: selected $5 items on Fridays and a set-price family meal on Thursdays. The announcement dates the Thursday offer through 29 October 2026. These are the terms in that announcement; check IKEA’s current terms before relying on them.

IKEA’s announcement also lists a regular meat breakfast and regular vegetarian breakfast for $5 for members ($8 for non-members), available from store opening. From 11am, the selected main options include eight-piece plant ball, falafel ball and fish ball meals, also listed at $5 for members ($13 for non-members). A DAIM cake or a four-pack of cinnamon buns is listed at $5. The announcement says the other dishes are available throughout the day.

Do you need IKEA Family to get the member price?
Yes. The $5 Family Friday prices and $33 Thursday bundle price are member prices; IKEA’s announcement lists higher non-member prices alongside them. IKEA describes Family membership as free to join. Its restaurant information says membership savings can apply across the restaurant, bistro and Swedish Food Market.
Check your store before you go
IKEA says restaurant dishes can vary by store and time of day and advises customers to check local menu boards. Use the local menu and current offer terms to confirm that the item you want is being served and that the promotion is available on your visit date. IKEA’s national promotions page lists offer terms; the Family Friday and Feed the Family entries are dated September–December 2026 and September–October 2026 respectively.
