What the January 2025 GDS notice covered
The Department of Posts notice dated 7 February 2025 covered engagement as Gramin Dak Sevaks, including Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak roles. It reported 21,413 posts. The application window ran from 10 February through 3 March 2025, so this schedule is historical and cannot be used to submit a new application.

How applications worked in this cycle
The Department’s portal described a registration stage followed by the online application and selection of preferences. Applicants needed an active mobile number and email address. The form asked for personal and contact details, Class 10 marks or grades, and post preferences. Candidates for whom a fee was applicable had to complete payment for the application to count as successfully submitted.

- Register on the Department of Posts GDS portal with an active mobile number and email address.
- Complete the online application with the requested personal details and Class 10 marks or grades.
- Select post preferences in the application.
- If required to pay the fee, complete the online payment and check that submission is recorded.

Application fee stated for January 2025
The portal listed a ₹100 application fee for candidates who were not exempt. It stated fee exemption for female and trans-woman candidates and for SC/ST candidates. Payment gateway charges could be additional. These were the instructions for the closed 2025 cycle, not a current fee quote.
Declarations shown on the application form
The form included candidate declarations about being able to ride a bicycle, scooter or motorcycle for work, and about computer literacy and the ability to use a smartphone, laptop or handheld device supplied by the Department. Those declarations do not establish that an applicant had to buy any of those devices to apply.
Where to check the GDS 2025 shortlist
The Department’s portal identifies a January 2025 shortlisted-candidates section. Use the official portal and the relevant circle or division list to check an outcome rather than relying on forwarded messages or copied lists. Verify eligibility and vacancy details against the original notice
Before relying on any cycle-specific eligibility detail, check the original Department notification and annexures. The available notice copy identifies the issue date, vacancy count and application dates, but those facts alone do not establish the age limits or relaxations, exact Class 10 criteria, local-language rules, circle-wise vacancy splits, merit calculation or document-verification requirements. Do not assume conditions or dates from a later recruitment cycle applied to January 2025.

The Department warns that it does not call or send SMS messages asking candidates to deposit money. Treat unsolicited demands as suspicious, do not send money in response, and verify information through the official portal or recruiting authority. Keep registration and mobile details secure.
