The promise was widely reported, but the available reporting does not establish that every customer received a refund.
What was the Roxy Jacenko home giveaway?
The promotion launched on 8 March 2024 and was linked to purchases of packages for Jacenko’s Brand Bootcamp online business course. The Nightly reported that packages started at $29 and offered buyers an opportunity to win a luxury home in Cronulla or $250,000 cash, as well as a Birkin bag and a Rolex. It was therefore a paid course promotion connected to prize draws, not simply a free house giveaway. The Nightly’s 13 May 2024 report describes the offer.
Why did Jacenko promise refunds?
In May, Jacenko said she no longer had confidence that the advertised prizes could be delivered. The Nightly quoted her saying: “I cannot have my name on something that I do not have any control over, I cannot be assured that what you bought into can be delivered — so, I will refund you, personally.” She also said she wanted to do what she believed was right despite a dispute within the business. Her statements explain her stated reason for offering refunds; they do not independently establish what happened to each customer’s payment.
The Nightly reported that Jacenko said refunds would begin the following Monday. In responses published by ABC on 14 June 2024, she said she had started refunding people who applied. Neither report confirms that all customers were paid. The promise to refund more than 7,000 people should not be mistaken for a verified count of completed refunds.

How did the house-prize mechanism work?
According to The Nightly’s account of the reported terms, a participant selected in the process had to choose two winning envelopes from 250 to claim the house. Jacenko argued that entrants had a chance to win and that consolation prizes applied if the house was not won through that method. The coverage does not establish a definitive probability of winning, so a precise odds figure should not be treated as verified.
Who was responsible for the promotion’s terms?
In her responses published by ABC on 14 June 2024, Jacenko said she had not been aware of an $11.5 million entry-fee threshold, that business partner Youssef Tleis managed the terms, and that she had not signed off on them. These are Jacenko’s claims, not findings independently established by the ABC material. ABC’s published responses also include her account of the dispute.

The partners offered a conflicting account. As reported by Pedestrian on 15 May 2024, they said the partnership began in good faith and deteriorated mainly because of differences over how to market the promotion. They called Jacenko’s social-media comments wrong and defamatory. Those, too, are the partners’ assertions; the available reporting does not resolve which account is correct. Pedestrian’s report covers their response.
