Revenue and adjusted EBITDA topped the high end of Impinj’s own Q1 guidance, while analyst estimate comparisons varied by provider. The report and outlook help explain the rally, but no single figure proves what caused the move.
What happened to Impinj stock?
Impinj (Nasdaq: PI) released its Q1 2026 results after the U.S. market closed on April 29. The Motley Fool reported that the stock opened 36.1% higher and finished the April 30 session up 20.5% from the prior close. The closing figure is the dated one-day move—not an after-hours return, a long-term performance measure, or a prediction of future returns. The Motley Fool’s April 30 report covered the market reaction.
What Impinj reported for Q1
For the quarter ended March 31, 2026, Impinj reported revenue of $74.3 million. Its results differed depending on the accounting measure: the company posted a GAAP net loss, but positive non-GAAP net income and adjusted EBITDA.
| Q1 2026 measure | Reported result |
|---|---|
| Revenue | $74.3 million |
| GAAP gross margin | 49.1% |
| Non-GAAP gross margin | 52.4% |
| GAAP net income (loss) | $(25.3) million, or $(0.83) per diluted share |
| Non-GAAP net income | $4.4 million, or $0.14 per diluted share |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $3.4 million |
Impinj said both revenue and adjusted EBITDA exceeded the top end of its Q1 guidance. That is a comparison with the company’s own forecast; it is separate from whether results beat analyst estimates. The company’s April 29 earnings release provides the reported figures and guidance.

Did Impinj beat analyst estimates?
Contemporaneous estimates put revenue expectations at roughly $72.5 million to $72.6 million, below the reported $74.3 million. The exact estimate depends on the outlet or provider being cited.
Adjusted earnings-per-share comparisons were less uniform. The Motley Fool and Zacks cited a $0.11 consensus for adjusted EPS, making Impinj’s $0.14 non-GAAP diluted EPS higher than that benchmark. Another contemporaneous estimate roundup cited $0.14, matching the reported figure. These are provider-specific comparisons, not a single universal consensus, and analyst-adjusted EPS is not the same as Impinj’s GAAP loss per share. Zacks’ April 29 comparison and the Motley Fool report describe their respective estimates.

Why investors may have reacted so strongly
The clearest explanation supported by the figures is the combination of better-than-guidance Q1 revenue and adjusted EBITDA with management’s much higher Q2 forecast. Impinj guided to Q2 revenue of $103.0 million to $106.0 million, compared with Q1 revenue of $74.3 million. It also forecast Q2 adjusted EBITDA of $27.8 million to $29.3 million and non-GAAP net income of $24.6 million to $26.1 million. The Q2 forecast was management guidance, not a reported result or a guarantee.
Management also said endpoint IC bookings reached an all-time record. CEO Chris Diorio said, “Our first-quarter results were solid, with revenue and adjusted EBITDA exceeding the top end of our guide range. Endpoint IC bookings hit an all-time record, engendering a strong second-quarter revenue outlook.” The company’s release includes the quote and the full forecast.

What happened after the Q1 rally?
Q1 is no longer Impinj’s latest reported quarter. In its July 29, 2026 release, the company reported Q2 revenue of $108.4 million, GAAP net income of $12.2 million, non-GAAP net income of $27.0 million, and adjusted EBITDA of $30.7 million. It forecast Q3 revenue of $105.5 million to $108.5 million. Those later results provide context for the Q1 outlook; they do not change what investors knew when shares moved on April 30. Impinj’s Q2 release reports the figures and Q3 forecast.
