London Gatwick added several airlines around the start of its 2026 summer schedule, but the airport’s dated announcements do not verify that exactly four joined in one seven-day period. On 1 April, Gatwick called Condor its fifth new airline in less than two weeks, naming Jet2, Air France, Eurowings and Animawings as the preceding arrivals. The useful takeaway for travellers is the routes and launch dates—not a precise “4 in 1 week” count.
Which airlines joined Gatwick around the end of March 2026?
Gatwick’s announcements describe a cluster of new services in late March and early April. These dates distinguish service starts from broader plans announced for the summer.
| Airline | Service and timing | What Gatwick announced |
|---|---|---|
| Jet2 | First flights from its new Gatwick base took off on 26 March 2026. | 29 routes were planned for that summer. Gatwick announcement, 26 March 2026. |
| Eurowings | Cologne service began on 29 March 2026; Stuttgart service began on 13 April 2026. | Gatwick reported 13 weekly flights to Cologne and six weekly flights to Stuttgart. Gatwick announcement. |
| Air France | Flights to Paris–Charles de Gaulle began on 30 March 2026. | The route was scheduled twice daily and operated by an Airbus A220. Gatwick said this was the airline’s first Gatwick service since 1996. Gatwick announcement, 30 March 2026. |
| Condor | Gatwick–Frankfurt service launched on 1 April 2026. | Three daily flights; Gatwick described it as Condor’s first UK route. Gatwick announcement, 1 April 2026. |
| Animawings | Named by Gatwick as an arrival preceding Condor. | The reviewed announcement does not establish an exact launch date. Gatwick announcement. |
Does “four new airlines in one week” match the confirmed timeline?
Not exactly, based on the dated material available. The launch dates that Gatwick explicitly gives for Jet2, Eurowings’ Cologne service, Air France and Condor run from 26 March to 1 April—an interval of six days between the first and last dates. But that is not proof that four airlines all joined within the same seven-day window: Animawings is part of Gatwick’s own count, while its exact start date is not established here. On 1 April, Gatwick described Condor as its fifth new airline in less than two weeks, following Jet2, Air France, Eurowings and Animawings. That is the airport’s stated count and wording.
The distinction matters: a close cluster of airline announcements and service starts is not the same thing as a verified four-airline tally for a precise seven-day period.

What did Gatwick say about the wider 2026 expansion?
Gatwick’s broader counts depend on the date and reporting period, so they should not be combined as though they were a single final total.
- 19 February 2026: Gatwick named eight airline arrivals for the summer: Animawings, Jet2, Air France, Eurowings, Condor, AirAsia X, Air Arabia and Beijing Capital Airlines. This was a planned summer list, not confirmation that every listed service had begun. Gatwick’s summer announcement.
- 13 July 2026: Gatwick reported more than 230 destinations and a record 63 airline partners, saying eight new airline partners had launched so far that year. Gatwick’s July update.
- 26 August 2026: Gatwick reported that seven airlines had joined in the first six months of 2026. This is a distinct first-half snapshot with a different cutoff from the July year-to-date update. Gatwick’s August update.
How should travellers compare the new routes?
The announcements establish destinations and, for some routes, service frequency. They do not establish which option will cost less or work better for a particular trip. Before booking, compare:
