IKEA’s Roblox store did offer paid work—but only through a short 2024 UK and Ireland recruitment campaign for 10 selected co-workers. The application window closed on 16 June 2024, so this is not a current opening or a general way to earn money by playing Roblox.
What was IKEA’s Roblox job?
IKEA launched The Co-Worker Game, a virtual store experience on Roblox, on 24 June 2024. Developed with Swedish game design company The Gang, it brought parts of IKEA retail work into a playable setting. Players could help customers, organize showrooms, and visit the Swedish Food Market and Bistro. The wider Roblox community could explore and play activities inspired by store work.
IKEA framed the project as a way to show its approach to careers. In its 3 June 2024 announcement, IKEA UK and Ireland Country People and Culture Manager Darren Taylor said the company wanted to bring its careers philosophy to life, including the possibility of changing roles, switching departments, and growing in different directions.
How much did IKEA pay the Roblox co-workers?
IKEA advertised a rate of £13.15 per hour, which it described as its London co-worker hourly rate at the time. That figure applied to the 2024 campaign; it is not a current wage offer or a general Roblox pay rate.

Could anyone earn money just by playing?
No. The paid roles were a small, selected group recruited through an application process. The broader community could visit the virtual world and play, but IKEA did not advertise wages for ordinary participation. Roblox also said it was not affiliated with the campaign’s compensation or rewards, and participation did not create an employment or worker relationship with Roblox.
