Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a Fortnite competitive prize, sign in to the Fortnite Competitive portal, open My Prizes, and select Start Tax Interview. After Epic verifies your Tax Profile, follow Hyperwallet’s activation instructions, add a transfer method, and accept any pending prize in the Competitive Dashboard. Creator revenue and island-developer payouts use separate program flows.
How to claim a Fortnite competitive prize
- Check the event rules. Your placement or score must meet the event’s prize requirements. Eligibility can also depend on your country or region, so review the applicable rules in the Fortnite Competitive Rules Library.
- Start the tax interview. Sign in to the Fortnite Competitive portal with the account you used in the event. Open My Prizes and choose Start Tax Interview. Epic recommends using a desktop browser because the forms may not display properly on mobile. See Epic’s prize-claim instructions.
- Wait for Tax Profile verification. Epic says verification may take up to five business days, depending on your country of residence. It will email you when the profile is verified and direct you back to enrollment. Check your email, including filtered folders.
- Activate your Hyperwallet account. Once your tax information is validated, Hyperwallet sends instructions to set up the payout account. Epic says that activation email may take up to five business days. For minors, Epic says a parent or legal guardian may be contacted to complete the process. Follow the instructions in the email and provide the requested banking details.
- Add a transfer method and resolve any requests. Complete the Hyperwallet profile, choose an available transfer method, and respond to any outstanding verification requests. Hyperwallet transfers funds from Epic to the destination you select; it is not a general-purpose stored balance. See Epic’s Hyperwallet guidance.
- Accept the prize if prompted. Return to the Competitive Dashboard and accept any pending prize that requires acceptance. Epic aims to notify recipients within 30 days after an event ends, but verification can take longer.
Why a prize may not have arrived
First confirm you met the event’s placement or score requirement and were eligible in your region. Then check that your Tax Profile is verified, your Hyperwallet account is activated and verified, you have added a payment method, and no verification request is waiting for a response. Also check the Competitive Dashboard for a prize that still needs acceptance.

Which Fortnite earnings are you claiming?
“Fortnite earnings” can refer to different programs. Use the portal and eligibility rules for the source of the money; the competitive-prize process does not automatically apply to creator or developer income.

| Source of earnings | Where to start | Eligibility context |
|---|---|---|
| Competitive event prize | Fortnite Competitive portal, under My Prizes | Event placement or score requirements, plus any country or regional restrictions in the event rules |
| Support-A-Creator revenue | Epic’s creator-program support and the relevant creator portal | Support-A-Creator program terms; use its payout details rather than assuming the competitive prize dashboard applies |
| Fortnite island engagement payout | Fortnite Developer Program | Joining Support-A-Creator alone does not qualify you for developer engagement payouts; Developer Program participation is separate |
Epic’s creator-program tax and payout setup guidance covers the creator context. Island publishers should consult the Fortnite Developer Program documentation for program requirements. Epic’s support overview describes tax-profile and Hyperwallet setup for cash payouts, but the exact portal and eligibility rules differ by program.

Epic says the tax-form schedule is based on the date it paid a reward, not when you earned it. Its published guidance says US esports competitors receive Form 1099-MISC by the end of January, while recipients outside the US receive Form 1042-S by March 15. For Support-A-Creator and Fortnite Developers, Epic says US recipients receive Form 1099-NEC by the end of January and that it does not issue a tax form to non-US residents for those programs. Epic also says a US resident receives a form only when rewards total more than $600. These are Epic’s published statements; check its tax-form guidance for the applicable tax year and program, since guidance can change.

A tax form is not a determination of what you owe. Epic says it cannot provide tax advice. US readers can consult the IRS instructions for Form 1099-NEC; non-US creators may have local tax obligations. For advice about your own situation, speak with a qualified tax or financial adviser.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
